Qatar sells 379m Barclays shares

Barclays shares dropped 5% in early morning trading after Qatar Holding announced the sale of 379m of the Bank's shares and the exercise an equivalent amount of warrants at a price of 197.775p a share.

By mid-morning Barclays shares had fallen 19.2p to 362.85p , down just over 5%.

Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Limited has been appointed as sole bookrunner with Barclays Capital acting as lead manager.

It is anticipated that the books will close on or before close of business today.

Qatar Holding chief executive and managing director Ahmad Al-Sayed says: "The decision to exercise the warrants and dispose of the resultant shares forms part of Qatar Holding's portfolio management program and does not impact on our current intention to remain a long term strategic shareholder in Barclays.

"The transaction will result in proceeds for Barclays of approximately 750m."

Questions?

I said it before I will not take any funny comments from beguiners on "moneyam", take offence if you want, but not even you is any good, one time you want to be serious and the other most likely "PISSED" have to apologies for nonsence.

Just in case you have not notice it yet, I do not answer questions from " sheep shagger / stalker ".

I have answered questions and help posters all over the place, including here over the years, my claims if such, is for posters to see if your claims ( FTSE down to 4250 by Christmas) are better than mine.

I am in LLOY from around 60p and as I said last week is on the PORTFOLIO for the
the LONG term waiting for the bounce on the economy, is going to be UP and DOWN specially if raising money and investors SHORT well in advanced, but this one is not moving enough in % to be in and out like some smaller stocks that I punt with good success rate, other wise I would not do.

Now I am sreious about claims, but I can not undestant why are you saying I said to BUY LLOY even at 111p when is not true.
Not much point on posting answers if LYING is in you mind and on the post once too often.

This thread was dead, till I started posting as I was acumulating stock for the PORT, "marni" was soon busy on the posting after that saying LLOY was the best after slice bread and calling "hyleo" all names for having opposite views, but then she made 10% and sold at 66p , so LLOYS was no good any more...... is common sence to reach conclutions when an investor has turn negative once has sold, but now has become too comic, and like this happen with many over here that most likley have no holding but take the anger on LLOY for past BAD experiences most likley.

cynic - 20 Oct 2009 14:15 - 1174 of 5370

leaving aside your most tiresome and unnecessary personal abuse of MRSI, why should lies emanate from Palestine?

Master RSI - 20 Oct 2009 14:25 - 1175 of 5370

tabasco

all is being sorted, you are looking at my post as ramping but ..........

Maybe after a few drinks you do not know something very esential........

we are at LLOY thread

so I made a commentary of what the shares are doing and the reason why, nothing out of space, you are becoming more STUPID as the day goes on, ( maybe you have consume too many bottles already )

You have selected a few commentaries, I can not see any "BUY" recomendation or even saying something similar, as you are trying to say.

Master RSI ---- 10
tabasco ------ 0

You have lost all the credibility if you had ever any, noticed from others comment on the past, you have been a PEST on other threads and you are trying to do the same here.

tabasco - 20 Oct 2009 14:34 - 1176 of 5370

Cynicthe Master has accused many of us of telling liesI have also said on more than one occasion that I quite like him in a funny sort of waybut he is very good with spinand an excellent salesmanwhich kinda makes him dangerous in this line of businessyou are an intelligent guy that can distinguish bulls*itand so you would know marni was not insinuating lies emanate from Palestine anymore than from Peckham

My information was 1st hand information, as I was reading you post and exchanging comment with you about it, and i was also suggesting the position on the chart was for moving further ahead, they went to 69p and back to 66p ( it was about you wanted a 10% profit to came out ) then you thoght you could wait a bit more, but eventually you sold.

Now if the post have been change or deleted, is only you playing little girls games, keep those for you husband not in here.

Lloyds tipped as a buy as it sells another business

Lloyds Banking Group - which has been an uncertain market ahead of details about its expected cash call - has ticked up after a disposal and a positive broker note.

The bank has sold some of its investment management portfolios - involving 6,000 customers with 1.27bn under management - to wealth fund group Rathbone Brothers for up to 35.4m. Rathbone shares have added 4p to 959p on the news.

The disposal follows the sale last week of Lloyds' loss-making Halifax estate agency chain for a token 1, and continues its policy of getting rid of non-core assets.

Meanwhile Evolution Securities has begun coverage of the bank with a buy note, suggesting investors wanting to build up a position in the bank should do so before the rights issue. It said:

Once the turnaround is over, Lloyds should emerge as the largest distributor of banking services in the UK, and the largest mortgage bank in Europe. Mortgages, well managed, can generate 25%-plus returns on equity.

We estimate that Lloyds has a 21bn capital deficit and expect a 15bn rights issue very soon. We initiate with a buy, and a TERP (theoretical ex-rights price) based target price of 96p, offering 41% upside to investors buying today and taking up their rights.

But Evolution added:

Lloyds needs to sell assets and has a number of options: Scottish Widows, wholesale (workout portfolio or Bank of Scotland) or retail assets (Halifax). Given that the retail bank is by far their most profitable business, it would be a major mistake to sell Halifax, in our view.
