The positive side is that, if it is NF, that makes a total of only 1 who hasn't got Greenseal from two different sources. If it is not NF, that could be 2 big ones who haven't.

Wether such 'tales' are ramping, or bashing-ignore them. Such stuff is way too uncertain to base any kind of investing decision in. This kinda stuff makes Internet BB a total waste of time. Lets all just keep to what we know-this is far too much speculation.......

Energy costs seeping into consumer prices, and produce aisle

Note the 118 percent increase. This is not just a slight rise, and it will only get worse. The latest increases due to the reacent shortages, in the USA have not yet filtered through.

As of early last week, more than 20 percent of North America's supply of important chemicals such as benzene, used to make rubber, plastic and dyes, remained out of service, according to Chemical Market Associates Inc., a Houston-based petrochemicals consulting company. Some could remain offline through the end of the year.

Prices for ethylene, used to plastic film for packaging and a wide variety of other plastics, soared by 118 percent, according to Ariba. Prices for propylene and polypropylene, used to make plastic food containers, among other things, jumped by as much as 62 percent.

ii, please do us the courtesy of actually reading what people on this thread post. if you had read the posts, you would have realised that your last musings were unnecessary.

NielsJensen - 23 Oct 2005 18:24 - 12103 of 27111

Did Stanelco mislead the market when they said they would introduce new products at the conference or did the reporter from Business Wire tell a porky? Either way, there's still no news on this. Another dead rabbit, that did not even make it out of the hat, perhaps? I sincerely hope not.

Do not believe post bhunt1910 and post 12084 re. the guy who works at a packing house. Looks pretty much like a hoax or else this guy is extremely slow on the uptake. To watch the BB's for several months talk about his area of expertise, make no comment and then come out with the statement he has smacks of a deramper in disguise. Wait for his next post about no further developments on Greenseal with his company. If genuine he will tell all which company it is he does work for.

NielsJensen - 23 Oct 2005 20:49 - 12106 of 27111

Skotduck,

Well, were new products announced or not? I think it's a fair question. Maybe there'll be an RNS soon, but it should have come last week, are we all shmucks?

insiderinside - 24 Oct 2005 03:13 - 12107 of 27111

bos - this is how - the ramper starts - a neutral post - in a insider job - Asda - then another - and one more - then they start to ramp - seeing more new sealing - lots of it - heard the news - all going to new sealing - this kind of thing - this is how - some ramp it - if not pointed out - this person - would be back later with massive ramping statements - LOL - ;) IMO

greekman - 24 Oct 2005 08:10 - 12109 of 27111

Morning NielsJensen, and all,

Fully agree it's a fair question, although I only think an RNS would be warranted if the answer was in the positive. As no official comment was released prior to the conference I do not see the requirement for the same if it was in the negative, especially due to the tightening of LSE rules. All imho of course.

Bugz - 24 Oct 2005 08:47 - 12110 of 27111

Morning all.

This issue of the RNS-agree with greekman on this.

I'm pretty confident in a RNS coming out this week or next-there'll be one for sure at the time of the 30-day agreement Re:ASDA-maybe a flurry of news around this point.

Oct 24,2005-After a year of research and test marketing, replacing conventional packaging with NatureWorks PLA for just four items, it would translate to more than 100 million containers per year for Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

How will this fit in with Starpol. Will it be the next upgrade for other items.

Yes - but still no mention of SEO - were they actually at the conference ???

My view is taken from a statement from Walmart a few days ago.... Walmart is just beginning to figure out the lifecycle of the new plastics. "We don't have answers for everything yet," she said.

To my mind this could be the mention of ...replacing conventional packaging with NatureWorks PLA for just four items.....IMHO could it be that they are/will look to Starpol for far more than 4 items, if so if 4 items relate to 100 million containers per year, what are SEO/Starpol looking at if they really get going. Speculation I know but the odds for Starpol take up look pretty good.

hewittalan6 - 24 Oct 2005 09:25 - 12114 of 27111

Could that possibly tie in with the trial period at Asda that is only for 30 days? Or am I into very wild speculation here?
Alan

greekman - 24 Oct 2005 09:38 - 12115 of 27111

hewittalan6

As you say speculation, but possibly. NatureWorks PLA may be better suited to some products re moulding etc than Starpol, although for most items particularly film covering of ready meals for which demand is ever increasing in both assortments and percentage of packaging requirements Starpol looks the possible winner. ( Out now for several hours ).

Dormar - 24 Oct 2005 09:42 - 12116 of 27111

I notice that GM modified corn has been mentioned once or twice in relation to PLA, and by extension, Starpol.

Whilst I have no information on whether the corn used to manufacture PLA is genetically modified or not, my own feeling is that this is irrelevant ( at least in terms of the science involved ).

This is because the starch in the corn is first turned into natural plant sugars, before being fermented into Lactic Acid, which is then used to make Polylactic Acid ( PLA ).

Lactic acid is, well, lactic acid. It is exactly the same chemically whether the the corn was GM or not. It will certainly not conatin any genetically modified plant genes.

Think of it this way: If you distilled the water out of GM oil seed rape ( for example ), it would still be.... just water. It wouldn't be "genetically modified water".

This doesn't mean to say that the ignorant wouldn't seek to mislead the ignorant into thinking that it was somehow GM-tainted !!.

Cheers

D

I'm 100% that SEO where at the conference.

I agree with your 'speculation' Alan - failing to produce an RNS last week makes me look to the end 30-day ASDA period too. I dunno where Greekman gets the number of 4 or more products for with Walmart, first I've heard of that figure, but if so, great! ;-)

bhunt1910 - 24 Oct 2005 10:01 - 12118 of 27111

Bugz - I agree with you that they were at the conference - it is just that from all the hype I would have expected to have seen some mention of SEO somewhere - and there has been absolutely no mention of SEO in any shape or form anywhere.

So it begs the question - why were they there. I cannot beleive that they just went to show their wares - there just has to be some other reason - that hopefully will result in some sort of announcement over the coming weeks.

Yes you are right - starting to get frustrated with absence of news - mind tomorrow is Tuesday - their favourite day for RNS's
