It is with deep regret I have to inform everyone that Dave Anderson(Crocodile) sadly passed away last night in his sleep.


This is a complete shock to all his family and friends, therefore can I ask everyone to respect their privacy and not phone his home etc.


David was the most likable and open person I have ever met and a huge friend of mine and MoneyAMs.

Whatever I post will never come near doing justice to this great man, so I will simply stop here.

20.13 I have had a few brief conversations with David's family today. Despite all that has happened they have managed to briefly log onto MoneyAm and seen the numerous postings. I know they are moved by the response. The family are in the process of organising David's funeral but matters are slightly complicated with the Bank Holiday weekend. I will post more in due course when I have some more information.

26 May :I have received many many e-mails with offers of help and offers of sympathy. Many thanks for all these and apologises if I have not been able to reply but I will get round to it. I will also make sure those that have asked me to pass on any messages to Davids family get sent on.

In the meantime I know many of you are wondering what happened. At this stage it is not for me to go into details but suffice to say it is of a natural cause and totally unexpected.

David had withdrawn a little from the site over the last few weeks as he felt he wanted to devote more time to looking after Maria who is very poorly. Although he did not post much in the day I do know he was constantly logging on. He still continued to burn the midnight oil to create each day traders thread and he would spend about 15 hours each weekend creating the Weekend/Monday thread.

16.34 26/May Have come off the phone from Rachel(David's daughter). Today is not an easy day for the family, I think they were so busy yesterday that today has been harder as it has had time to sink in. We talked about Funeral arrangements and Rachel mentioned that they could not book anything yet but will let me know as soon as possible. She mentioned once again about all the postings which they have been busy reading and thank everyone for all the kind words and thoughts. They will arrange a public funeral as they know a lot of people would like to attend.

Funeral Arrangements


David's Funeral service will be held at St Benedict Biscop Church, Wombourne MAP on Friday the 4th of June at 1pm, followed by burial at Gornal Wood Cemetery. MAP

There will be a wake afterwards at The Vine Public House Wombourne (this is a few doors down from the church above). Friends old & new are most welcome.

9/11 was a moral issue Alan even in terms of trading, I think David did the right thing then, and I believe we are doing the right thing now...taking time out to reflect.

Martini expressed things quite well when he said sod the markets and went away to cultivate his garden...perhaps if we all thought more about each other then the world would be a better place.

The thread over the roads epic is called "rise" and it is part of a fitting permanent memory to David and the decent way he reacted under extreme pressure, I have the original stored on my hard disk.

I know that life must go on and I am sure that is what David would have wanted, but there is no harm in taking stock of our feelings and of our loss

Dailos- Like you I don't need to trade to survive. Todays tragic event just re enforces my comments on the board just the other day. I don't mind sitting in front of a computer during winter months, but, when the sun shines it's no contest. I just can't be asked! Lifes too short.

Dailos - you said it all - a true gent and quite amazing how his passing has made us all feel.

Paul - we'll all mark our respects our own way. Just spent much of the afternoon reflecting on what Croc would think and wish. My guess was he'd like things to carry on. I did a bit and then did something else - thoughts very far from the markets I guess. That was the real point.

Christ, I'm gonna miss him.

I haven't been able to think about anything else today since I heard the news. He helped me organise an ADVFN traders meet in Darlington which was the first time I met him. I invited several of my friends along and they were all completely bowled over by David's enthusiasm and approachability and have, like me been stunned by the news.

Even though we only met twice, I, like everyone else on this board considered him a true friend.

One of life's true gentlemen - and as has been said before - in this dog eat dog world there aren't many you can say that about.

I only met David once in person at a traders' meeting, where he confirmed the impression he gave on the bulletin board. A top bloke, one who gave far more than he took.

I only met David once recently and hadn't yet got to one of his courses but I certainly admired from afar.

I did not trade this afternoon because I just could not get my head into trading but I agree with Ruth in that I am sure that Croc would want us all to get back to normal Wednesday.

I learned so much from Croc in the early days of my day trading. I told him that I was richer and wiser from his efforts.

Like Ruth I had a problem a month or so back which did involve Croc. He had the decency to call me from France and try and resolve some issues I had. I was and am so pleased that we resolved these problems.

Its a terrible loss. I am still numbed by the news.

It was with great sadness tonight that I learnt of crocs passing away.My heart goes out to his family and close friends.

I hope all those left behind can take a little comfort from the good Dave did whilst he was with us and hope he rest in peace.

Just logged on to Moneyam for the first time to-day --- very sad news. I had the pleasure like many of meeting David and Maria on a couple of occasions, and attended one of his Trading Courses in Dudley. A true and sincere Gentleman, who treated everyone like a friend and with his wife Maria made you feel very much at home. Sunday afternoon reading will never be quite the same.

Only just found out.

Deeply shocked and saddened.
I met David on a couple of occasions and spoke to him on the phone and he was always very helpful.

A very sad loss.

I've just been reading an e-mail David sent to me recently. In it he wrote

"I am 100% a trader and thats all that really interests me and I count myself extremely fortunate that I can make a living out of one of the most exciting jobs in the world."

I thought I would share that with you all.

Just back from a few days away & totally numbed to hear of Croc's passing.
Never had the good fortune to meet him but have been a regular fan of his thread for some 2 years now & really valued his understanding of the market & experience, not to mention his readiness to help anyone out & comiserate if things went wrong.
Most of us would like to cross over in our sleep but usually this only happens to the good & deserving which he is. May he rest in peace

Have found today particularly impossible. Dave was a true inspiraiton in his ideas for trading and his attitude to life. I felt priveleged to know him. I can see him saying 'it is a good long ... or I am short.... or the 10 day intraday.... ' Whatever the case, he would want people to continue to execute his love, research, and enthusiasm of trading. He spent so many years making trading information accessible to the layman,sincerely willing them to succeed in their new found endeavour. I am forever grateful to him for leading me in the right direction and for being forever patient and kind when asking impossibly dumb questions.
As Vasey said earlier, Dave would like to be remembered as 'a man who had never done anybody a bad turn' That he didn't.
You will be remembered in that way and more Dave. You have been taken away for too early . May you rest in peace.

I know how you feel. Some of our mobile software user interface was designed to pass what we called here "the Croc Test" which ensued from a short conversation I had with him at the GNI trader event a couple of years ago. Always very incisive. And of course, his input to the Terminal screen "if I could see just four level 2 screens at once" and so on.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news .He has been good to beginers like me always ready to help out .He will be missed very much .My thoughts are with the family.I just cant belive .

I feel like I've come in to the office this morning and there's a big desk sat empty. I pass it every morning because like most here the traders thread was how you start the day, sometimes say good morning, sometimes don't, but always stop by at some point. Feels very odd to have such a constant presence no longer there.

Have been away and just found out. I am stunned and shocked, what a lovely man and gentleman who will be missed by all who knew David.

Heard about Davids tragic death while travelling yesterday. My condolences to his family and friends. Dave was one of the characters in this game, he will leave a big gap which wont be easy to fill.
