Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

hilary - 04 Feb 2019 09:04 - 12205 of 12628

Dil,

It's under two months to what is supposedly Brexit deadline day, and they're just talking about these things on an ad hoc basis? They've had two and half years to sort that sh!t out!

cynic - 04 Feb 2019 09:06 - 12206 of 12628

sorry hils, but i think what you say about impeding holidaymakers and similar is a nonsense
don't forget that the resorts need british holidaymakers far more than the brits need them
make it all too much of a pain, and many will just go elsewhere

ALSO
as with all these matters, it is always at the last second that true decisions are made
the example of the greek bailout is an easy example

hilary - 04 Feb 2019 09:17 - 12207 of 12628

Actually cyners, I'd prefer it if the Brits did go elsewhere. But the need for an ETIAS and IDP after 2021 is real, and certainly not Project Fear scaremongering.

hilary - 04 Feb 2019 09:19 - 12208 of 12628

PS. With the Greek bailout, it was Greece who buckled, not the EU.

cynic - 04 Feb 2019 09:32 - 12209 of 12628

it was last second resolution to which i referred

Dil - 04 Feb 2019 09:58 - 12211 of 12628

Yes Hils I agree , 2 years to sort nothing out. As I have said before I could have achieved a better result in six months.

Fred1new - 04 Feb 2019 10:05 - 12212 of 12628

T. Maybe's negotiations with her own party, reminds me of "Peace in our time" speech made by Chamberlain waving a little bit of paper and been cheered by the mob.

Just a thought.

Perhaps we should buy our next cars from Japan.

Clocktower - 04 Feb 2019 10:41 - 12213 of 12628

The Japs do not produce quality cars like Aston Martin`s or the likes of Hand Built Morgan`s Fred. So stick to British.

Clocktower - 04 Feb 2019 10:44 - 12214 of 12628

PS - you can watch Great British Car Journeys on Channel 4 last one was Sat 2 Feb at 8pm in a great Morgan Car.

Tern TV a Zinc Media company produced the series.

Ticker ZIN.

cynic - 04 Feb 2019 11:17 - 12215 of 12628

aston martin certainly used to have a reputation of being able to pass anything except a mechanic

btw, isn't a large lump now owned by the kuwaitis? ..... still frightfully british of course :-)

Stan - 04 Feb 2019 11:56 - 12216 of 12628

Cars? Oh you lot are so little boyish -):

Fred1new - 04 Feb 2019 12:02 - 12217 of 12628

CT,

Made probably my last motor home to France last year (2018) down to Dauphin and Marseille.

After retiring I bought a medium-sized American Motorhome (home on wheels) and mostly wild camped throughout France, Spain and Portugal unless my grandchildren or wife were with me when used the campsites which in France are superb for kids and outside events.

Probably one of the most enjoyable periods of my life, especially in the Dordogne or parked up on the west coast of Portugal.

If you still use a motor home, have a quick look at:

Sold mine some time ago Fred but continued with the Fixed Mobiles on the French Campsites for my youngest daughter but might buy another to wander around Portugal once Brexit is sorted and the GBP is strong again. (Give it two years and expect the rate to be around £1 = 1.6 eu.) However, she is now past wanting to come on holiday with her parents. Still 4/5* Hotels will do for now for us.
