TCG plc Pre-close Statement

cynic - 27 Mar 2014 07:14 - 1227 of 1559

has been satisfactory, despite the significant market disruption caused by continued unrest in Egypt, as our businesses have worked successfully together to offer our customers a wider choice of destinations. Customer bookings for the Summer 2014 season have shown an improving trend since we reported our first quarter results with around 50% of holidays already sold, slightly higher than at this stage last year. Compared with last year, margins are expected to improve more than average selling prices, reflecting enhanced yield management and the benefits of our cost out and profit improvement programme, which is delivering ahead of schedule. Finally, having
successfully completed the disposal of our interest in The Airline Group, shareholder in NATS, I am pleased to confirm the delivery of our disposals target eighteen months early.

The continuing transformation of Thomas Cook, including the delivery of our
strategic targets, remains our top priority and I look forward to sharing a
full update at our half year results announcement on 15 May, together with
details of further new product development and the second wave of our profit
improvement plans."

Harriet Green, Group Chief Executive Officer

doesn't sound bad to me!

jimmy b - 28 Mar 2014 16:31 - 1229 of 1559

Was in and out over the last week ,will be a buyer again if it goes back down.

cynic - 28 Mar 2014 16:57 - 1230 of 1559

i hold, but as yet have put none in my pension .... may well remedy that next week

HARRYCAT - 28 Mar 2014 22:10 - 1231 of 1559

Not sure that a share which is at the mercy of political instability, the weather, currency fluctuations and fickle and unpredictable retail customers would be one for my pension pot. Spices up your retirement though, I suppose! ;o)

cynic - 29 Mar 2014 16:47 - 1232 of 1559

you could argue that shares themselves are intrinsically unstable
equally, shares in pension funds can be traded like any other share

jimmy b - 11 Apr 2014 13:46 - 1233 of 1559

Looking like a buy again here.

jimmy b - 11 Apr 2014 15:41 - 1234 of 1559

Back in for a trade . i don't know whether this will go like most of my recent buys ,the old ,,a long term hold is a short term trade gone wrong ! Next week will tell.

STANDARD & POOR'S RAISES THOMAS COOK OUTLOOK FROM STABLE TO POSITIVE

Standard & Poor's Rating Services has increased its Outlook on Thomas Cook after a detailed financial review of the Group's progress in implementing its Transformation strategy.

S&P, one of the world's leading rating agencies, has raised the Outlook on Thomas Cook from Stable to Positive. S&P's rating of the Group remains unchanged at "B" for the moment.

Harriet Green, Group Chief Executive Officer, said:

"This is another milestone in the rapid delivery of our strategy of sustainable profitable growth. We are very pleased that S&P has recognised the pace and extent of our transformation and we appreciate its confidence in our ability to maintain the momentum.

As we reported last month, our cost out and profit improvement programme is delivering ahead of schedule and we have reached our target for disposals of non-core interests 18 months early.

S&P has recognised the importance of our continuing transformation, including the delivery of our strategic targets, and I look forward to sharing a full update of our progress at our half year results on 15 May."

Standard & Poor's said:

"The operating performance of Thomas Cook Group plc has improved thanks to the ongoing implementation of its turnaround strategy. We anticipate that its credit metrics will continue to strengthen as cost-saving initiatives as part of its turnaround strategy lead to EBITDA growth and debt reduction. We are therefore revising our outlook on Thomas Cook Group plc to positive from stable, and affirming our "B" long-term corporate credit rating on the company.

The positive outlook reflects the likelihood of an upgrade within the next 12 months if positive operating trends continue to improve the Group's profitability and credit measures."

Harriet Green scoops Business Woman award

13 May 2014 at 08.25 GMT

Thomas Cook chief executive Harriet Green has seen her transformation of the company recognised as she was named Business Woman of the Year at last night’s Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Awards.

The award was given for Green’s ongoing transformation of Cook since she took over the loss-making business in 2012, putting customers back at the heart of the business and developing a compelling digital strategy.

She was one of three finalists for the prestigious award – Karen Black of advertising group MediaCom and Jane Shepherdson of clothing company Whistles.

The 42nd annual awards are widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of female entrepreneurs and business leaders.

The award’s 20-strong judging panel is comprised of business leaders from various industries.

Veuve Clicquot senior brand manager Christina Jesaitis said: “It is important that these women are celebrated not least because of their achievements, but also as a catalyst to inspire future generations of female entrepreneurs and CEOs.”
