Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Hils , get over the expected bit. It's just a guess based on so many variables that it's never likely to be right.
If forecasters were any good , buying shares or trading currency would be a no brainer.
How are the German figures looking for the same period , actual not forecast ? Heard they are horrendous but hey ho they are blaming Brexit.
Maybe Merkel should pull her finger out and get a deal done.

Hmmm , news out today that Germany narrowly avoids recession.
Maybe they beat forecasts though Hils so that means it's good news doesn't it ?

Italy going into recession. Who's to blame? Themselves, the Euro, the German-French axis or Brexit? Take your pick and argue as suits your purpose.

Puts our 0.2% growth in perspective wouldn't you say Hils ?

poor little thin-skinned red fred ........ if he wasn't such a supercilious specimen, one might even be driven close to tears
without much difficulty, i can think of many incidents and flaws in churchill's character
however, the public's perception of churchill is of the "great saviour" - which of course he was - and thus mcdonnell's comment was a blunder of almost tsunami proportions ...... that it tells much about him and by association, also corbyn, will no doubt be remembered, even when the immediate fallout has (quickly) settled

Little man,
What you define as a blunder is a common opinion of Churchill in many parts of the UK based on his history.
As a little englander you can rejoice, blind to his weaknesses and misjudgments.
Smear on fellow it is a suitable occupation for you.

Dil,
Markets don't ignore expectations. It's the expectation that's in the price before the news.
But what 0.2% growth are you talking about? The numbers clearly show that December GDP fell 0.4% month on month. The 0.2% growth increase relates to the last reading.
I don't understand the relevance of Germany - not only is their economy fundamentally different to the UK's, but they're not planning to leave the EU. That said, their YoY Q4 numbers did beat the street.

fred - as usual, you talk absolute rubbish ......
which many parts of uk support your and mcdonnell's view of churchill? .... the relatives of the sidney street anarchists perhaps? .... any others?

Try comparing like for like Hils , GDP Q4 UK not month on month. I never even mentioned Mom.
The relevance of Germany , well if our growth was better than theirs in Q4 we can't be doing that bad can we.
Merkel about to break ranks and kick start a proper deal ? Some real unhappy people in Germany over the EU stance apparently ?

You might not have mentioned MoM, Dilbert. But I certainly did in post 12504.
I know I'm good, but I'm not psychic, so you'll have to explain yourself clearly if you expect people to understand wtf you're babbling on about.
:o)

Little Manual and Mates.
The cartoons are representative of public opinion regarding T.May and the con party's incompetence regarding the EU negotiation.
There is often much truth in a few strokes of cartoonist.
