Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

VICTIM - 26 Apr 2016 10:08 - 1271 of 12628

What gets me really , there he is obama the man who gave Billions of dollars and military hardware to Iraq and didn't listen to his advisers . ISIS end up with the military hardware and Maliki is in Iran with many millions of Iraq's money , and they allow him to go around preaching .

cynic - 26 Apr 2016 10:09 - 1272 of 12628

quite possibly, but confess i've rather lost interest

i've decided which way i shall vote and know what result i'ld like to see

however, as it stands, it looks that the "out" camp has lost much traction and that there'll be a pretty significant margin to stay put .......

that would mean that the eu will see little or no meaningful internal reform, but will just continue to become more and more federalised with uk being slowly ingested into that morass

bad news

jimmy b - 26 Apr 2016 10:48 - 1273 of 12628

I don't think the OUT camp has lost traction ,in fact i think the last few day has given it more traction especially with May dithering as well. I think it is all still to play for .
Plus your right if we stay in we are doomed ,the end of the UK as we knew it.

black bird - 26 Apr 2016 10:51 - 1274 of 12628

no body, mentions, the cornfields to be built on should england house, immigration
overload. BB

iturama - 26 Apr 2016 10:56 - 1275 of 12628

Almost 2 months to go. A lot can happen in that time. It is said that a week is a long time in politics.
While the stayers are condescendling urging the young (and ignorant) to advise their older (and wiser) relatives to vote remain, you can be sure that come the day the old and wise will be heading to the polling booths while the young and ignorant will be heading to Glastonbury.

jimmy b - 26 Apr 2016 11:06 - 1276 of 12628

Actually that's a good point ,a youngster told me the other day when i asked how they would vote,, i wont be voting i'm going to Glastonbury.

VICTIM - 26 Apr 2016 11:14 - 1277 of 12628

Yes with 2 months to go it's going to get weary , but the stayers seem to be putting more effort in , or should that be propaganda . I wonder who they will draft in next will they go down the celebrity route , you know what that lot are like must be seen to be politically correct for their image .

cynic - 26 Apr 2016 11:15 - 1278 of 12628

and fred?
oh, i'm sure he'll just have his arse glued to his comfy chair as usual

very simplistically, i'ld like to remain within eu BUT ONLY IF there is root and branch reform
this just will not happen without substantial groundswell from the voting public across many of the current member states

however, and as i have stated before, i'm hoping for a very close vote
this i hope will then provoke the impetus required to shake the eu hierarchy out of its smug attitude that it can slowly trundle towards federalism with complete disregard to the wishes of at least very significant minority and perhaps even the majority of the people across all member states

VICTIM - 26 Apr 2016 11:24 - 1279 of 12628

As for the out campaign I would target the younger University types with a sort of , we need you for Britains future , with new frontiers to cross and markets to capture . As opposed to a stodgy over regulated under achieving undemocratic mess .

MaxK - 26 Apr 2016 11:42 - 1280 of 12628

Nothing will "shake the eu hierarchy out of its smug attitude" except a P45.

jimmy b - 26 Apr 2016 11:55 - 1281 of 12628

Or maybe referendum's in Austria / Sweden /Holland etc , if we should vote out i believe the EU will fall. I sincerely hope so.

iturama - 26 Apr 2016 12:13 - 1282 of 12628

The EU will crumble, with or without us. We will only hasten the day of reckoning. The rest of europe are not fools. I echo C in that a reformed Europe would be welcome but nobody has yet said what that means or how it willl happen. Those that feed off the EU tit will not willingly give up their priviliges and benefits.
Obama says that we need a "strong and prosperous and democratic and united Europe". A democracy that gets rid of the democratically elected governments of Italy and Greece and is now undermining that in Poland and in any case asks for a revote whenever anything goes against it wishes.
That is so strong that it cannot protect its own borders.
That is so prosperous that many of its citizens have to leave home to do crappy work in the UK and Germany while the EU Central Bank tries without success to stimulate the failed economies by ever increasing QE.

VICTIM - 26 Apr 2016 12:21 - 1283 of 12628

I've said this before I think they think that it will work by hook or by crook at any cost , I don't think they see failure .

grannyboy - 26 Apr 2016 12:41 - 1284 of 12628

Anybody who still believes that the EU will EVER reform is
either delusional or plainly trying to deceive, just like the
establishment parties who come out with the stupid defence of .....
Yes we know the EU is undemocratic...Yes we know the EU needs to be reformed.......
Yes there are to many immigrants coming into the country......
But we should stay in and 'try' and reform it.....

It's all lies and deception...There will NEVER be any 'REFORMS' and
the longer we stay in the more intagrated the UK will become, and it'l
be meaningless saying at this time, here in the present that they want
to stay in and fight for reforms, it won't matter one iota after 23rd June
if the vote is to remain...

Thats the only argument the remainers can put that 'they' think is positive.......

If picture doesn't appear here, click for great adaptation of Great Escape movie poster!

The music theme from The Great Escape would certainly make a great campaign tune for events and broadcasts.

Juzzle - 26 Apr 2016 15:02 - 1286 of 12628

Th IN-sters currently lead in the opinion polls. But they have already played the Obama card early. Who do they call up next? God? Eight weeks is plenty long enough for that poll lead to be overturned.

Over the coming 8 weeks I reckon there are far more possible new negative EU stories than new positive ones. And there is greater passion among the Leave camp than among those favouring the status quo.

Stan - 26 Apr 2016 15:32 - 1287 of 12628

.. Stories being the operative word.

MaxK - 26 Apr 2016 15:36 - 1288 of 12628

Nice one Juzzle!

jimmy b - 26 Apr 2016 15:36 - 1289 of 12628

The IN lot are not using stories then Stan you utter fool !!!!

Stan - 26 Apr 2016 15:40 - 1290 of 12628
