"So there is every reason to believe that Birmingham might well get its high-speed link more quickly than the final completion date of 2027.

"Trains would run at 186mph"
... hopefully they'd slow down whilst passing thru Birmingham to allow people to get on/off...

... a possible new direct route from Shrewsbury to Blackpool

http://www.birminghampost.net/news/newsaggregator//tm_headline=birmingham-needs-new-station-to-cope-with-high-speed-link%26method=full%26objectid=24540045%26siteid=65233-name_page.html

Birmingham would need a new station. New Street wouldnt be able to cope with any new trains. We dont know where that would be.

survived87 - 28 Aug 2009 09:54 - 1285 of 1427

.... new station won't be at the 'Grand Central' site then.... !

Land identified as a possible site for a major new Birmingham railway station has been sold by the city council for 11 million.

The man appointed by the Government to investigate high-speed rail has made it clear that a new route from London to Scotland could still stop at Birmingham International Airport and the NEC, even though the option has been rejected by Network Rail.

GIANT twin towers set to straddle the southern entrance to the redeveloped New Street Station are being shelved due to the collapse in the market for city centre apartments and offices.

.and on the latest fly thru can't see any sign of the large public square that was previously promised to go with the project...

The CAMRA Nantwich Beer Festival opens at 5pm at Nantwich Civic Hall on Friday 25 September.....

http://www.nantwichfoodfestival.co.uk/beerfestival.htm

There will be around 70 beers and ciders available. As in previous years, all the Cheshire breweries will be represented and there will also be beers from the surrounding areas

Stan - 25 Sep 2009 18:50 - 1297 of 1427

Afraid not, bit to much on at the moment, always some reason or another why I seem to miss Nantwich. Real shame as it's a "Food" Fest. as well.,, oh well one day.
