If I put in additional PC memory, am I correct in thinking that all the memory modules should be the same size? And is it ok to have 3 memory modules, or should it be a multiple of 2 (ie either 2 modules or 4 modules)?

Just had this from Pipex re my upgrade to 1mb
" I have checked BTs systems and it shows
that BT have rejected the regrade due to the line not being able to
support a 1MB connection."

What type of line do you have to have?I live approx 1 Mile from my exchange. Is this a case of BT Being difficult. It took them ages to sort out my Migration from them to Pipex. So im a bit cynical.
I wonder if it would be available if I was prepared to pay BT`s 40.99 a month as opposed tp Pipex`s 33.99;-)

"Sophos anti-virus protection bypassed
And different bug makes software loop-de-loop.

Sophos' anti-virus software can be bypassed by a virus-laden e-mail if it doesn't contain any MIME boundary definitions, the company has admitted.

MIME, or Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions, is the basic protocol used for sending graphic, audio and video on e-mail. But Sophos has found that Delivery Status Notifications generated by qmail mail servers (the second-largest in number on the Net) that are infected with the MyDoom virus slip through the anti-virus software undetected.

Only qmail servers set up to include the original e-mail in the bounced e-mail will not include MIME boundary definitions and so slip through. But it still remains a significant security hole considering the number of qmail servers (around one million) and that the impact of many modern viruses and worms come from the emails automatically created by their appearance.

On top of that, a separate bug in the scanning engine means that the anti-virus software can be used to launch a denial of service attack on your PC if certain MIME headings are used. An "unexpectedly terminated MIME header" will send the application into an infinite loop, eating system resources in the process, the company said.

In effect, an unpatched version of the software will soon prove a liability rather than offering any sort of protection as not only will virus writers quickly latch onto the idea but the software itself can be used to bring down your computer.

MB, control panel/display, settings tab, click on second monitor, and tick "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor". You may also need to click on the advanced button, Dual Head tab, and set dual head multi-display.

MB, if you click control panel/display and the settings tab, do you see two monitors pictured?

Optimist - 15 Feb 2004 14:01 - 1349 of 11003

Mega Bucks

Click Control panel then display and then the settings tab.

Do you get a large gray box at the top of the tab with two blue boxes inside labeles 1 & 2? These represent your monitors.

If you see this then underneath it there should be controls to change the resolution and colour depth and also two check boxes labeled "Use this device as primary monitor" and "Extend my desktop over this monitor". Sometimes they are grayed out depending which monitor is selected.

I have described WinXP but have used multi monitors on Win2K and know it is similar.

MB, when you get the box with two monitors, if you click on the one that says "2", don't you get two tick boxes below, one of which saying "extend desktop onto this monitor"?

Before giving up totally, try reinstalling the drivers. These are the latest ones: http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/latest/home.cfm

Robb - 15 Feb 2004 18:05 - 1355 of 11003

KeithB - I have XP Home and have successfully used a G550 with dual monitors and now a P750 with triple monitors. Have I misunderstood your post?

DocProc - 15 Feb 2004 18:35 - 1356 of 11003

MB

An IE window can be 'Maximised' or 'Minimised' - or 'Inbetween sized'.

The 'Inbetween sized' is the important size with multiple monitors because it's this one you need to be able to drag the windows about from one monitor screen to the other.

You do this by putting the mouse pointer on the blue band at the top of the window, holding a left click down and then dragging the window to where you want it. You can re-size the window when you have it on the correct monitor or even stretch an 'Inbetween sized' window to fill the whole of all of your two, three or even four screens.

As a practice, put a window on the LHS monitor, make it "Inbetween sized' and then stretch this one window to fill the whole of both of your two monitor screens.
