MB, control panel/display, settings tab, click on second monitor, and tick "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor". You may also need to click on the advanced button, Dual Head tab, and set dual head multi-display.

MB, if you click control panel/display and the settings tab, do you see two monitors pictured?

Optimist - 15 Feb 2004 14:01 - 1349 of 11003

Mega Bucks

Click Control panel then display and then the settings tab.

Do you get a large gray box at the top of the tab with two blue boxes inside labeles 1 & 2? These represent your monitors.

If you see this then underneath it there should be controls to change the resolution and colour depth and also two check boxes labeled "Use this device as primary monitor" and "Extend my desktop over this monitor". Sometimes they are grayed out depending which monitor is selected.

I have described WinXP but have used multi monitors on Win2K and know it is similar.

MB, when you get the box with two monitors, if you click on the one that says "2", don't you get two tick boxes below, one of which saying "extend desktop onto this monitor"?

Before giving up totally, try reinstalling the drivers. These are the latest ones: http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/latest/home.cfm

I have searched all programm and operating system CD's and have been unable to find this file. Can anyone advise.

Win XP Home version won't do multiple monitors, one needs win XP Pro

KeithB - I have XP Home and have successfully used a G550 with dual monitors and now a P750 with triple monitors. Have I misunderstood your post?

An IE window can be 'Maximised' or 'Minimised' - or 'Inbetween sized'.

The 'Inbetween sized' is the important size with multiple monitors because it's this one you need to be able to drag the windows about from one monitor screen to the other.

You do this by putting the mouse pointer on the blue band at the top of the window, holding a left click down and then dragging the window to where you want it. You can re-size the window when you have it on the correct monitor or even stretch an 'Inbetween sized' window to fill the whole of all of your two, three or even four screens.

As a practice, put a window on the LHS monitor, make it "Inbetween sized' and then stretch this one window to fill the whole of both of your two monitor screens.

KeithB, I don't have or use XP but I very much doubt that you need xp pro for multiple monitors, the drivers are the deciding factor, not the OS.

Have to agree that the matter of the dual monitors is down to the drivers. I have an Ati Radeon with dual monitor support. It worked fine under windows 98, but when I upgraded to Xp professional additional drivers were required

Only really confirming what others say!

Tiny/Time modem problem

I have cracked it, used new modem and new browser ( AvantBrowser). accessed windows downloads and reinstalled IE6 which was corrupted or sabotaged.

Now working fine

"....used new modem..."

Did you have to buy a new modem then?
