Hopefully not another day of Cable indecision

foale - 18 May 2004 07:45 - 1356 of 11056

Cable trading simple this am...trade the price extension on the high or low of the current 1 hour bar..

if their ever is one!

edit: though I am favouring a higher dollar today...well so far

hilary - 18 May 2004 07:49 - 1357 of 11056

Ditto post 1354 foale. I've been short overnight and was taken out a little while ago on the trailing stop as it spiked up.

My 5 minute chart says it could be turning up ...... my 1 hour chart says the up leg might be at an end and it could turn down. I don't intend to long it until it's moved above 17740 and I'm not too confident shorting it again atm. Guess I'll probably hand sit till the 9:30 CPI.

Off topic, I see that FX Strategy have gone subscription only.

foale - 18 May 2004 08:29 - 1358 of 11056

Interesting about FX strategy
does that mean no more FX calendar on Mondays
or is that sourced separately
Hilary you mentioned the upside entry. What aboutthe downside?

Break of 17570 or would you wait for 17450

hilary - 18 May 2004 08:38 - 1359 of 11056

The calendar is safe as it comes from FXCM.

I didn't mention a short entry because I saw one yesterday evening but I can't see another one now. I suspect that I had my stop a bit too tight, but in this market it's better safe than sorry imo. From the recent price action I'd guess that quite a lot of players are sidelined at the moment.

hilary - 18 May 2004 09:15 - 1360 of 11056

Well I'm chancing it with a long ahead of the CPI. Stop on a move below 17615.

foale - 18 May 2004 09:48 - 1361 of 11056

Well if the day has a trend at all I would say its still up atm despite the initial move down on the CPI numbers

No Bebble today...he must be finding it more exiting on the shares
or perhaps the Golf course

hilary - 18 May 2004 10:10 - 1362 of 11056

I moved my stop to break even just before the numbers. Out flat .... seems to be a repetitive story atm.

Currently nesting on the rising support line. Let's see if it can bounce from it. Tennis beckons soon.

Beeblebrox - 18 May 2004 10:17 - 1363 of 11056

i'm sulking.....

but i did join in long 176.42

foale - 18 May 2004 10:33 - 1364 of 11056

I am sticking with my long atm...
looking for 17675 to break to confirm move to 17700
small targets are better than none

Hilary tennis will probably be more rewarding today

I can see I will need to declare a sport soon ...
Golf and Tennis taken..mmm let me think

Beeblebrox - 18 May 2004 10:35 - 1365 of 11056

tiddlywinks then david ?

Mr Euro - 18 May 2004 10:52 - 1366 of 11056

Dil & I have been developing a trading plan for FX so you may have a couple of new names on the thread :-)

The plan (known as the Dil & Euro model similar to Black & Scholes) is on the verge of providing it's first trade.

Dil prefers to wait another 3 months before going live but I can't wait that long!

Beeblebrox - 18 May 2004 10:54 - 1367 of 11056

not called the leek & frog method then

hilary - 18 May 2004 10:57 - 1368 of 11056

It'll be good to have a couple of contrarian indicators on the thread, Mr E.

:o)

Gone long again. Stop is where it was for my earlier trade before the CPI. I'll see what it looks like after tennis ....... if I'm still in it, of course.

Tellon - 18 May 2004 11:10 - 1369 of 11056

Hello all, (Morning/Afternoon)

Took a short from yesterdays hi closed for 50pips. Im still short on paper but lost the bottle for a postion trade. I think theres another 200 pips+ coming on the downside. It wont be so straght.. what with "the collapse of the stock market over the next few days.." (Quote from evening standard Monday)

So Im paper trading till thursday to get my thinking straght. Maybe a short for 50pips (20stop) on any nice rallies.

Dil - 18 May 2004 11:19 - 1370 of 11056

Oi Eurochops your contribution was "eh , what , uh , right , nah that won't work " , bloody big help you were :-)

Only just seen yor texts , cheers.

Mr Euro - 18 May 2004 11:26 - 1371 of 11056

Hey, don't get jealous becasue I spotted the fundamental flaw that would have meant you shorting a break out!!! I even put your name first :-)

Seriously though I nearly opened up before the target was hit becasue I could see another 50-100 pips on offer, but resisted.

Just think Rodney, this time next year...............we'll have done for FX what Black and Scholes did for options :-)

Dil - 18 May 2004 11:40 - 1372 of 11056

... or what Bill and Ben did for flowerpots :-)

Mr Euro - 18 May 2004 11:41 - 1373 of 11056

LMAO!
