You've got to laugh though - St.David of Beckham on 100,000 a week and can't kick a frigging ball straight!
Good luck to the Dutch.

told u AdieH that england would get knocked out.........didnt expect so though to a poor portugal team.
Thought a decent team would be require to beat them
Might get some peace and quiet now on tv and fropm the media.

how typical.....national frenzy, optimism.....but in reality crap..hey, if beckams on 60,000 a week for kicking a ball about, yuou'd expect him to hit roughly the right area from the penalty spot......I think he and vassell should be "sacked" for gross misconduct as would most professionals in any walk of life who missed such an easy target....(If i fucked up that bad I would be!)

beckhams penalty was a disgrace - he's now missed 3 times on the trot. He's vastly over-rated, only thing he can really do is cross a ball.
at least vassall hit the target and required a decent save from the goalie

If Rooney was not injured he would have scored two great goals and had them both disallowed

Becks - only thing he can really do is cross a ball....
Believe he's crossed his wife once or twice too.

lots of excuses on here about why england didn't win.... at the end of the day it was a good game. i don't think vassell deserves any negative talk because his shoot was on (unlike beckhams). thats football, you can't win them all, and Portugal deserve a bit of luck once in a while too.

Nice to see the Jocks having a laugh - British vermin of the highest order.
Re: Penalties - As any footballer/fan will tell you there really a lottery/nerve test. Statistically we've had such a bad run that the tables will turn eventually.
As many have noted England aren't the team that the media/armchair brigade have painted. Those that can hold their heads high include the Evertonian, Cole, and Neville, but as a Chelsea boy I for one do not want Gerard at the Bridge. Too many wasted passes imo, and yesterdays midfield was absent. (Lamps with Gerard).
Hopefully Sven will learn not to rely on Heskey, and persist so much with an out of form Owen/Beckham - although both will bounce back.
And whilst the sweaties are enjoying their moment can I remind them of Euro 96, when they both lost the match, having missed from the spot.

Oh really....you are a sad ignorant peasant...many of us have very good friends from south of the border and I for one was not laughing at the elimination of the only British team in the competition. Why don't you slink back to the gutter from whence you've come.
