How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Is racing at Wetherby off?

B-P - 02 Mar 2005 11:36 - 1501 of 10502

whyall,
PUNTERS will have to endure a blank day on the jumps front after both of today's meetings were cancelled due to the wintery weather.

Folkestone were first to call off their meeting early this morning while Wetherby soon followed suit, abandoning their fixture at 9.30am after unexpected snow hit the West Yorkshire venue overnight.

Mare! This last month has been a very poor one for the horse racing market.

Same sorry question I pose today at 12:30, Anybody else having problems with Betfair? Seems to have gone down. Bad form Betfair, Bad form.

The forum has been switching all morning between the correct version and an older version which does not permit posting. Looks like they moved some bits of the site to different servers during last night's maintenance period.

Harlosh - 02 Mar 2005 13:52 - 1506 of 10502

Just got in. One race every 35 mins. Think I'll give it a miss today.

Scripophilist - 02 Mar 2005 18:03 - 1507 of 10502

Spurs odds against tonight. Price can't be right can it?

Harlosh - 02 Mar 2005 18:09 - 1508 of 10502

1.83/1.84.

Scripophilist - 02 Mar 2005 18:33 - 1509 of 10502

You would fancy Spurs to score at some point. The implication is that the decay will be quite rapid later on if it is a close game. I think I be inplay on this match tonight.

Scripophilist - 02 Mar 2005 18:33 - 1510 of 10502

TPO :)

Diego - 02 Mar 2005 19:51 - 1511 of 10502

Spurs/nottingham: Laid the draw at 3.5. Looking to Spurs to score early on.

Diego

if you are expecting spurs to score early why lay the draw rather than back spurs?

Diego - 02 Mar 2005 20:05 - 1513 of 10502

Fundy, I think Megson is doing a good job at Forest and I read somewhere that he's got a game plan so I'm really hedging my bet here. My enthusiasm for Spurs to score first is based only on their Premier status.

Scripophilist - 02 Mar 2005 20:16 - 1514 of 10502

Spurs dominate posession at the moment four to one.

Fundamentalist - 02 Mar 2005 20:18 - 1515 of 10502

Letting my head rule my heart - have backed spurs at 1.93

Scripophilist - 02 Mar 2005 21:05 - 1516 of 10502

About bloody time Spurs, thankyou. Price now 1.25!

I'm tired so an early night for me. Off for a hot bath and to watch the news.
