Israeli Gaza conflict?????? (GAZA)

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2009 19:21

Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?

If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?

Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?

What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

"a typical sign of Jew haters"

and

"Being anti-Israel is an acceptable form of being anti Jewish."

and

"rage and rant against Israel and Jews"

What a load of rubbish. The anti-Isael means anti-Jew is a common tactic ti silence opposition and it doesn't work any more. No one is ranting against Jews at all. The use of anti-Jew is just a trick to abert attention.

You can call me what you want, it doesn't make it so. You will have to try something other than anti-Jew as it doesn't fit.

Listen to the link after the music has finished. Then lets have a debate.

An ex Israeli government minister talking about using "the anti-semitic trick"
to stop criticism of Israel.

Shulamit Aloniā€Ž, born 29 November 1928 is an Israeli politician and left-wing activist. She is a prominent member of the Israeli peace camp, founded the Ratz party and was leader of the Meretz party and served as Minister of Education from 1992 to 1993.

I rarely get involved in this debate and one of the reasons is precisely this one. I may have a view, but do I really want to spend my time defending myself against groundless and upsetting accusations. It is the 'race card' strategy and it is very effective. The best line of defence is attack, as they say.

Even for the moment assuming that it were true that everyone not agreeing 100% with Israel is actually anti-Jew, you need to consider how giving prominence to that view actually helps. To me it just implies the strong possibility that you've run out of arguments and have resorted to name calling.

When I read stuff like "Remember-there is only one person in this world that wil stand and support a Jew-that is another Jew" - making that statement cannot possibly help your case.

If it's true, then either every single gentile in the world is prejudiced, which is unlikely, or they have good reason for their position. Personally I don't think the statement can possibly be true, but the only thing you have achieved by making it is raising the second question.

I think that the only prejudice you have to fight is that Israel is seen as a civilised nation. As such, popular opinion would be biased towards you behaving ultra-responsibly towards people running towards you with bombs strapped to their waist, who would not be seen as being as civilised as you. So, continuing to restate that you have a perfect right to destroy them is not going to help you win the argument. In the same way as I don't like some of the characters from the local housing estate, but the answer is not to burn their houses down, nor to label as anti-posh anyone who dares query my predilection for arson.

Hays - Why do you even bother? These guys are more to be pitied than worth arguing with.

Haystack - 21 Apr 2010 17:43 - 1575 of 6906

The problem is that when people criticise Israel then they just get shouted down. The reality is that plenty of people are critical of Israel. the use of the anti Jews comments muddies the argument.

The Uk has been fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere recently. The cry is that we are anti muslim. It is exactly the same as the supporters of Israel say. There are people who live in the UK and people who live in Israel who use try and use the slur. It is the same as muslims who live in the UK calling our government anti-muslim. It suggests that the supporters of Israel are as ignorant as the ones who cry anti-muslim.

No, you don't like it when you get answered back in the same way you shout your hate.
And the more you two spew out your venom, the more I'll respond.
Unless of course you succeed in getting me banned for vigorously responding to your hateful, mindless, self-righteous, arrogant propaganda.
What sort of person says a nation should not exist........just who do you think you are........you've got to laugh.....the sheer overblown pomposity........it's funny.
Tell me, aren't you just the sort of person the Nazis recruited to "work" in the death camps.......Israel has no right to exist.......the Jews have no right to exist.....not a big leap is it....and you claim not to be anti-semitic, you and that other caricature figure...

Fred1new - 21 Apr 2010 20:11 - 1577 of 6906

ITL.

Print out post 1576, and then, if you know five individuals who you consider to be friends, give them a copy of it, and ask their opinion of its contents.

Try it!

Kayak - 21 Apr 2010 21:11 - 1578 of 6906

What a nutcase.

MightyMicro - 21 Apr 2010 22:33 - 1579 of 6906

In The Land of the B: Aren't you rather overstating your position? If you want to get banned, I don't doubt you've now got enough yellow cards with the moderators. You say the other parties to the discussion are really guilty of being "just the sort of person the Nazis recruited to "work" in the death camps......." -- the others might feel a tad put out by that. I know I would.

Bit OTT, perhaps?

Haystack - 21 Apr 2010 23:20 - 1580 of 6906

Such a bizzare post, it is difficult to see what to make of it. If that were the attitude of the Israeli government, then it would not be dififcult to understand why they are held in such low estime. In fact, dare I say it, the Israeli government does seem more reasonable then the poster above.

hilary - 22 Apr 2010 07:29 - 1581 of 6906

Too many chips and not enough shoulders.

Hotei - 22 Apr 2010 10:45 - 1582 of 6906

Hotei - 22 Apr 2010 11:17 - 1584 of 6906

MightyMicro - 22 Apr 2010 11:19 - 1585 of 6906

Make that 5. Posts, that is, not pies.

Kayak - 22 Apr 2010 11:32 - 1586 of 6906

Fat slobs, with your chips and pies.

:-)

MightyMicro - 22 Apr 2010 12:41 - 1587 of 6906

Lunchtime!

yuff - 22 Apr 2010 13:32 - 1588 of 6906

Lets all calm down.

Its very easy to get excited on a bulletin board. However ,if we were all to sit down together,we would all get along just fine,as we would be able to put forward our individual arguments and cases as to why we feel like we do.

As stated before I lived and still work in Arab countires so get a proper view point from their side. I base my comments on what I perceive to be right and proper and wrong and one sided.

Despite being put down here, i will continue to support those who i believe to be wronged.

Fred1new - 22 Apr 2010 22:06 - 1589 of 6906

Yuff,

There you go again.

I don't want to calm down.

I might stop if I do.
