Following on from my comments (see 152), i have contacted ZOO and it seems that the use of DVD-Extra for film production is a real possibility. Anyone interested to know more should have a look at the DVD-Extra white paper. Interesting stuff. My first impressions are good, the DVD-Extra Studio looks a little thin for pure movie making (IMHO), but its a starting point, and for games its perfect. But I still believe the beauty of DVD-Extra will be in interactive films. Its hard to say just how well ZOO might do out of all this, but its probably fair to say the recent change of business model is the right step in positioning ZOO for bigger things to come.

I hope so, I'm getting rather bored with holding ZOO. Yep...my attitude is maybe what it should be, and I should be patient. Yeah...right!

i don't think much is going to happen over night with ZOO, its more a medium/long termer. IMHO

Does anyone know anything about the show zoo will be attending on 17th April in Las Vegas? i hear it's license will go on sale from this day is that true?
if so what impact will this have on the share price if any?

Trading Update


The Group's revenues for the year ended 31 December 2003 will be some 300% higher than the previous year. The successful building of a growing catalogue of products and IPs resulted in the publishing of a much wider range across a number of platforms including Sony PlayStation 2 ("PS2"), Sony PSOne ("PS1"), Nintendo Game Boy Advance ("GBA"), PC and DVD.


However, due to unforeseen programming problems we were unable to ship Premier Manager 03/04 until the week before Christmas resulting in reduced sales of the game in 2003. This combined with the non-shipment of the "Big Game Hunter" title on PS" and "Need for Speed" on GBA, caused by extensive contract negotiations, means that the Group expects results to be below market expectations for the full year.


Restructure

The Group announces that it has restructured into 2 main business units - ZOO Digital Publishing Ltd ("ZDPL") and ZOOtech Ltd. ZDPL will look after all of the groups publishing and development of consumer facing products including our relationships with Universal and other major publishers for the DVD-Extra titles. ZOOtech will focus on the sales, marketing, licensing and development of new technologies including DVD-Extra Studio. The Group is currently looking to strengthen the senior management teams in both businesses.


Ian Stewart, CEO of ZOO, commented, "I was disappointed that we were unable to deliver Premier Manager on PS2 in time for the Christmas market. We have immediately instigated changes to the management and production process to ensure that the 2004 version will be delivered on schedule. We have completed an exciting year of transition and look forward to 2004 with confidence.


Our extensive catalogue of titles and the continued growth in publishing interactive products on the DVD platform means that revenues from ZOO Digital Publishing will be more robust in 2004 and less reliant on the performance of one or two titles. The creation of ZOOtech Ltd to drive the expansion and development of DVD-Extra is particularly exciting and we expect to see licensing revenues being generated during the second half of 2004 following the formal launch of DVD-Extra at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas on 17th April 2004."
