THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Ald,

I don't understand the point you are trying to make.

-------

But would suggest Cameron, Tanker and yourself could consider what is implied in the below.

(Not sure where I cut and pasted this from initially. It might have been from this thread.)

---------

"A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, "Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like."

The Lord led the holy man to two doors.

He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in.. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.

The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful. But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, "You have seen Hell."

They went to the next room and opened the door.. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The holy man said, "I don't understand."

It is simple," said the Lord. "It requires but one skill. You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.""

PS.

I am glad Cameron has solved the Eurozone problems.

The other leaders must be glad to have his counselling.

But I do wish he would scratch his nose so frequently when answering questions.

Oi' watch it Tanks, Charlie's a Claret you know -):

Royal seal of approval

By special Royal delivery, the Prince of Wales' personal Burnley FC season ticket was presented to Her Majesty The Queen at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

Is that some sort of analogy? :-)

Fred1new - 29 Jun 2012 15:33 - 17408 of 81564

After the Jubilee frenzy is over, it would be reasonable to bring the guillotine out again.

(Not literally speaking!)

Didn't read your post Fred , to long.

I like Prince Charles he has a good sense of humour, but i wish he stopped hunting & shooting animal's and bird's for sport.

The Royal family does a good job , how much would it cost to promote this country around the World if it was left to a big company to do it . Some of the minor Royal parasites should not get paid.

Alds,

Don't worry about it. it may have stretched your critical thinking powers a little too far anyway.

Have a nice weekend and make sure you get enough rest.

aldwickk - 29 Jun 2012 18:53 - 17414 of 81564

No it wasn't that , just my boredom powers that were stretched.

Latest Pub Comment,

Putting the Tory government in charge of City and Financial Market reforms would be like putting the Mafia in charge of the Criminal Courts.

aldwickk - 30 Jun 2012 16:06 - 17416 of 81564

Or Gordon Brown in charge of our Gold reserves.

Fred1new - 30 Jun 2012 16:19 - 17417 of 81564

Or blaming your mother for your actions,

Haystack - 30 Jun 2012 16:47 - 17418 of 81564

Or blaming Labour for spending all our money!

Fred1new - 30 Jun 2012 20:50 - 17419 of 81564

Or blaming Heath for going into Europe.

Or expecting the EC to bail out the UK for this government incompetent economic policy.

I hear the PR PM Dauntless has had his instructions from Cayman islands and is preparing another U-turn.

For your God's sake Hays, tell him to think, or preferably get advice before any more utterances.

He is becoming an embarrassment for you!

Ps.

Why have a budget if you are going to reverse the policies a couple of weeks later?

No wonder business and industry have no faith in this government.

Have a look close to home at the Irish economy and the effects of austerity, proudly boasted by Osborne and cronies.

Slight edit 8-)
