Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

David Cameron announces banking industry inquiry
What is he hiding, or hiding from?
Why won’t he have a full public enquiry similar to the Leveson enquiry?
Unless he does, much of the public will think the results will a cover up to protect his friends
While the enquiry is running Parliament can continue to legislate and attempt to root out the cowboys and corruption in the city in general.
Is another U-turn going to be forced on these "mobsters", when once again he iis finally forced to listen to public opinion.

Fred
Don't forget these banking 'tricks' were done during Labour's time around 2005.

The last government made a lot of mistakes, some of which I criticised at the time.
But they also did a lot to repair some of the costly failings and mistakes of the previous administrations.
(I was critical of PFis and Iraq in particular. Look back.)
The labour party did bring reforms around that period, but should have gone further. One of the reasons for not doing so was that a large portion of the “city” was against further restrictions and regulations. Also, the tory party screaming against attempts for stricter regulations and crying for a freer deregulated market.
The government did duck the problems which were seen and spoken about by others at the time
But, this tory party has had more than two years to investigate and bring in stringent rules. On this occasion I doubt that the present cabinet members of the present government are culpable of any offences.
The “offences” over the LIBOR is down to those who acted “irresponsibly” or “criminally” and “failed” to provide sufficient overview.
However, one of the first steps when accepting responsibility leadership is to accept the responsibility of the position and stop blaming others for one's own failings.
Not to forget past mistakes, but to stop blaming them for present actions.
This government is stumbling from one disaster to another, with a headless chicken in charge of it.
A little more honesty and less arrogance from Cameron would be more appropriate and helpful.

Just listened to Osborne on Radio's to-day, when he suggested that Diamond's resignation would lead to a change in the culture and corrupt practices at the Banks.
Perhaps, the same may occur if some of those in politics did the same.
Fat chance.

Hays,
In case you haven't noticed Labour are not in" power" and many of the the previous government ministers are making more in the open market.
The tories are in power (Not the coalition.) and should get on with governing rather than bleating mantras and Baa, Baa etc..

PS.
Cameron reminds me of :-
"There go my people. I must find out where they are going so I can lead them."

I wish the Tories were in power instead of the coalition. Unfortunately there are many Labour leftovers from the last governent still around like Ed Milliband and Ed Balls.

Hays,
Probably, many of us would prefer the Toeies in power to this lot.
I might even vote for them.
Who are they?

Hidden Doggerland underworld uncovered in North Sea
A huge area of land which was swallowed up into the North Sea thousands of years ago has been recreated and put on display by scientists.
Doggerland was an area between Northern Scotland, Denmark and the Channel Islands.
It was believed to have been home to tens of thousands of people before it disappeared underwater.

If you think that is worrying, what about this -
No evidence of mermaids, says US government
Science has found no evidence that mermaids exist, a US government scientific agency has said.
The National Ocean Service made the unusual declaration in response to public inquiries following a TV show on the mythic creatures.
It is thought some viewers may have mistaken the programme for a documentary.
"No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found," the service wrote in an online post.
