Just listened to Osborne on Radio's to-day, when he suggested that Diamond's resignation would lead to a change in the culture and corrupt practices at the Banks.

Perhaps, the same may occur if some of those in politics did the same.

Fat chance.

Magnitude 6.2 quake hits off New Zealand's North Island coast

(Reuters) - A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the west coast of New Zealand's North Island on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake was centred 69 miles south-southwest of the town of New Plymouth in the bay between the country's two main islands at a depth of 147 miles, USGS said.

A Reuters witness reported feeling the quake in the capital Wellington.

The tories are in power (Not the coalition.) and should get on with governing rather than bleating mantras and Baa, Baa etc..

Hidden Doggerland underworld uncovered in North Sea

A huge area of land which was swallowed up into the North Sea thousands of years ago has been recreated and put on display by scientists.

Doggerland was an area between Northern Scotland, Denmark and the Channel Islands.

It was believed to have been home to tens of thousands of people before it disappeared underwater.

Science has found no evidence that mermaids exist, a US government scientific agency has said.

The National Ocean Service made the unusual declaration in response to public inquiries following a TV show on the mythic creatures.

"No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found," the service wrote in an online post.

Barclays reveals Bank of England call memo

Barclays has revealed details of a phone call in 2008 between former boss Bob Diamond and the deputy governor of the Bank of England, Paul Tucker.

In new evidence to the Treasury Committee, Barclays says that Mr Tucker told the bank its setting of the Libor inter-bank rate need not be as high.

Interesting to see Ed Millipede calling for a Leveson type probe into the libor fixing scandal, was it not the ex-chancellor Buffoon Brown who ignored a report that libor was being fiddled, was it also not Buffoon Brown our illustrious PM when Labour (including Millipede and Balls-up) discounted claims from Tom Bond the whistleblower at Barclays.
