THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

The enquiry by MPs on the Treasury Committee showed why it is necessary to have a Judicial enquiry.

The quality of the questioning in to-days committee was well below that which would be acceptable in by barristers or judges.

I think many of the participants were more motivated by party allegiance than getting to the bottom of any corruption which may or not be systemic in the "City".

The financial institution may be thinking of moving out of London.

Just like to mention Eric Sykes.......one of the greatest comedians ever....that has passed away...unforgettable humour.....

chuckles - 04 Jul 2012 22:41 - 17471 of 81564

F1N, have a better day than what? A better day than you say?
Every day is a great day for me it doesn't need to get even a tiny bit better, but I can see why you would say such a thing, so much baggage in that tortured mind that thinks calling someone Aids is somehow an insult. No need for me to read past posts, nothing deserves that response. You have my sympathy. Try and improve tomorrow, one day at a time is best.

Chris Carson - 04 Jul 2012 22:51 - 17472 of 81564

rf - For what it is worth I will second those sentiments, Eric Sykes legend!

Chris Carson - 04 Jul 2012 23:25 - 17473 of 81564

chuckles - Delighted to see you have seen through the most obnoxious poster to have gotten away with it for soooo long. But you have to understand that our Fred revels in his own stardom as such, so don't reply, just think pat on head, lump of sugar away you go Fred, your Mother loves you. He is Welsh as well apparently so not his fault. ( No offence Dil) :o)

Fred1new - 05 Jul 2012 10:10 - 17477 of 81564

Chuckles.

Every day is a great day for me it doesn't need to get even a tiny bit better,

How do manage to be so elated?

Hope it is not down to magic mushrooms or equivalent.

Again, I refer you back to the history and measure my remarks against contents of previous relevant postings.

If you come to conclusions based on less than all the facts then I can understand your present state of elation.

Stick it on the joke thread Exec, it's very funny!

Fred1new - 05 Jul 2012 15:45 - 17479 of 81564

Just be looking at the debate in the HP.

Some of us are paying for this standard of government.

What has the government to lose by having a barrister led enquiry?

What are they trying to cover up?

To outside observers in this country and other countries, the question being asked is what the present tory government is covering up.

It seems to me more like an abuse of administrative authority and similar to actions carried out by administrations of a banana states.

The city is already beginning to look shaky and this "show" is not going to reassure future "dealings" in the city.

This government may lose the name of the U-Turn government and be known as "Cover Up Government" or "Government of Disasters".

Appalling!

Haystack - 05 Jul 2012 15:48 - 17480 of 81564

The debate looks good and the government should win the debate easily. Labour want a judical enquiry into the whole banking industry. They are just playing politics and can be safely ignored. Ed Balls is talking his usual nonsense and can also be ignored.

Fred1new - 05 Jul 2012 16:56 - 17481 of 81564

You must be joking.

The majority of the tory interjections were purely political and not aimed for exposure of "problems" within the Banks and City in general.

They were often attempts at "smearing" others and dragging them down to their own levels of integrity.

To the public witnessing the tory behaviour, it will be seen as gang behaviour seen in rabbles made up arrogant school boys.

Also, to many, it will be seen it as the tory party protecting its own.

This is not what what those with integrity in the City want and certainly don't need.

Osborne, is shameless.

Haystack - 05 Jul 2012 18:35 - 17482 of 81564

Labour lost the vote on the Parliamentary enquiry by more than 100 votes. It is an indication of how silly Labour are and what a waste of parliamentary time the votes was.

Fred1new - 05 Jul 2012 19:42 - 17483 of 81564

Interesting to see what the public will think.

I think you short term pleasure may be over a Pyrrhic victory.

Cameron has lost Murdoch and Osborne the City.

Meteosat launches to maintain Europe's weather services

The latest spacecraft in Europe's long-running Meteosat series has just gone into orbit on an Ariane rocket.

It is now being manoeuvred into a position some 36,000km above the Earth from where it can keep a constant watch on developing weather systems.

The spacecraft is the 10th Meteosat platform to go into service since 1977.

Its pictures will soon be feeding into the daily forecasts provided to the public by national meteorological agencies right across Europe.

greekman - 06 Jul 2012 07:21 - 17485 of 81564

Thats great.
Now we will get the ever increasingly, depressing weather forecasts even earlier.

skinny - 06 Jul 2012 07:27 - 17486 of 81564

Greek - you should read here then - UK braced for further severe flooding

greekman - 06 Jul 2012 07:38 - 17487 of 81564

I am watching keenly as in 2007 our road had canoes and ducks on it.
Several houses were flooded in our village, with about 6 on our road.
Luckily we are on a slope, so we were OK but it was heart breaking trying to help (and failing) our neighbours.
What still makes me 'very' angry, is that the environment agency and Yorkshire Water have only (last May) decided on which strategy out of several to proceed with to alleviate the situation.

And yet, in a couple of months a new hospital will open in the next small town that has been built on the biggest flood plain in the area.

The hospitals car park has already been flooded several times, so it appears they just don't care.
I was going to say that they never learn, but I put it down to one word, MONEY.

I doubt corruption has anything to do with it, as we all know councils and other local authorities are 100% honest and above suspicion.
