Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

You must be joking.
The majority of the tory interjections were purely political and not aimed for exposure of "problems" within the Banks and City in general.
They were often attempts at "smearing" others and dragging them down to their own levels of integrity.
To the public witnessing the tory behaviour, it will be seen as gang behaviour seen in rabbles made up arrogant school boys.
Also, to many, it will be seen it as the tory party protecting its own.
This is not what what those with integrity in the City want and certainly don't need.
Osborne, is shameless.

Labour lost the vote on the Parliamentary enquiry by more than 100 votes. It is an indication of how silly Labour are and what a waste of parliamentary time the votes was.

Interesting to see what the public will think.
I think you short term pleasure may be over a Pyrrhic victory.
Cameron has lost Murdoch and Osborne the City.

Meteosat launches to maintain Europe's weather services
The latest spacecraft in Europe's long-running Meteosat series has just gone into orbit on an Ariane rocket.
It is now being manoeuvred into a position some 36,000km above the Earth from where it can keep a constant watch on developing weather systems.
The spacecraft is the 10th Meteosat platform to go into service since 1977.
Its pictures will soon be feeding into the daily forecasts provided to the public by national meteorological agencies right across Europe.

I am watching keenly as in 2007 our road had canoes and ducks on it.
Several houses were flooded in our village, with about 6 on our road.
Luckily we are on a slope, so we were OK but it was heart breaking trying to help (and failing) our neighbours.
What still makes me 'very' angry, is that the environment agency and Yorkshire Water have only (last May) decided on which strategy out of several to proceed with to alleviate the situation.
And yet, in a couple of months a new hospital will open in the next small town that has been built on the biggest flood plain in the area.
The hospitals car park has already been flooded several times, so it appears they just don't care.
I was going to say that they never learn, but I put it down to one word, MONEY.
I doubt corruption has anything to do with it, as we all know councils and other local authorities are 100% honest and above suspicion.

Bjorn Again
Bjorn Borg was the first tennis player to receive the hysterical teenage adulation usually reserved for a rock star.

The US has long maintained that diplomatic immunity exempts it from paying the congestion charge.
Separate figures show that Nigerian diplomats owe more than £67,000 on parking fines issued in 2011.
Foreign Secretary William Hague's statement said that a total of 64 diplomatic missions owe more than £100,000 in congestion charges.

Typical UK yet again.
I would think that our diplomats pay parking fines in other countries, as we tend to 'Play the game, and think that not to pay, simply isn't cricket.
Here's how they stack up:
Other countries owing fines to the UK.
China, 257 fines outstanding, £27,690 owing
Afghanistan, 245 fines outstanding, £25,820 owing
Turkey, 253 fines outstanding, £25,590 owing
Saudi Arabia, 169 fines outstanding, £15,440 owing
Cyprus, 140 fines outstanding, £14,500 owing
Pakistan, 128 fines outstanding, £13,120 owing
France, 120 fines outstanding, £11,900 owing
Ghana, 107 fines outstanding, £10,760 owing
Uzbekistan, 102 fines outstanding, £9,680 owing
Malaysia, 89 fines outstanding, £8,950 owing
Ukraine, 86 fines outstanding, £8,260 owing
Russia, 71 fines outstanding, £7,920 owing
Diplomatic immunity was originally to stop diplomats being set up for minor crimes by corrupt officials and to give immunity to certain search procedures.
And yet the murder of Evonne Fletcher, fatally shot during a protest outside the Libyan embassy at St. James's Square, London, in 1984 by an Iranian Diplomat was the worse example of diplomatic privilege.
The way this was handled was one of the most shameful acts of our Government ever.
No one had the bottle to state the obvious, that the diplomatic immunity act was not designed so that a person could get away with murder.
At the time of this shameful act, I was a serving Police Officer who had to watch helplessly as the murderer walked free, protected by colleagues of the murdered Police Woman.
It still rankles.
OK rant over.

It is not possible to make countries pay parking fines. Diplomatic immunity extends across all offences and crimes. If a diplomat kills a British citizen or anyone else in the UK, he will have immunity from prosecution. It is a worldwide agreement.

Diplomatic immunity is a necessary evil and has flaws. Perhaps the rules should be renegotiated internationally, and/or by agreement between the involved countries before acceptance of their diplomats.
Diplomatic immunity can be withdrawn from a diplomat by the country they represent and has been infrequently done.
While there are abuses of the system in this country, the system has also been frequently abused by the UK government in other countries. Of course the latter abuses were always excusable.
I would think in state of hostility, without the agreement the ending of war would even more difficult. (I suppose the Internet Video Systems may be a way around some of those programmes.)
