MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

Cheers MS, that would be very helpful

Hi All,

Still my associate a few desks away has heard nothing, he has known DB for many years, and bought in at around 2p for circa 500,000 shares. He also knows the Insinger analyst that does the MMG research too.

Could be another false dawn I'm afraid, with the ramping and false rumours always allowed on adv-fn, it's going to be a regular up-n-downer until the facts are published.

Also the Insinger note that should(I was told it would be) have been out 3 weeks ago, is unlikely to be out in July, so if there was anything coming, that would not be the case I think.

We all know that MMG are talking to the big pharma's, they have said so at the presentations, one of which I attended, and the rampers will always use this as a way to pump 'n dump the stock, until MMG finally get the deal they are looking for.

Good luck anyway, it's about time MMG got away from 1.26 !

Cheers,
PM

Todays move was not pumped but a technical move, breaking out of a consolidating range. SP do move without being pumped.

A good day for all investors and more to come...

paulmasterson1 - 14 Jul 2005 22:04 - 1814 of 2444

Momentum Hi,

I cannot say I am inspired to buy going by these charts. The price has hit the 1.48 resistance and bounced back again, and it is at the top of the price channel, and the 50 MA and 200 MA are nothing great.

Good luck if it breaks out of the price channel, it might even get to the 1.78 resistance, but don't count your chickens ....

http://www.neorx.com
A biotech with a market cap of $472M and its only product Picoplatin is a next generation platinum product targetting platinum resitant cancer, specifically non small cell lung cancer (phase II trial just started).
Sounds similar to a certain Ru product.
And my point.
Check out the market cap.
Then add Genvax, Viratis, Endozyme.
I'm not saying a Nasdaq (nerx) listing is the answer to realise true value but worth a comparison.

moneyplus - 15 Jul 2005 13:07 - 1818 of 2444

An odd statement to put out surely?? When the price rose to around 3 recently no comment at all----is this to draw our attention? I'm holding but still in loss at the moment so not too happy with damping down statements!

mickeyskint - 15 Jul 2005 13:34 - 1819 of 2444

For those of you who are interested, EK is still short of MMG.

DOWN -6%, that Masterfool is a genius.

Pete168 - 15 Jul 2005 15:34 - 1821 of 2444

I don't think he holds any MMG Sequestor.
Just shares any info he gets.
I fail to see your point or your interest in MMG.

Sequestor - 15 Jul 2005 16:43 - 1822 of 2444

I know why he was banned from a MAM rival, and so do MAM, he is relatively well behaved at present, but evil.
I just loath lying rampers.

paulmasterson1 - 15 Jul 2005 18:41 - 1823 of 2444

Hi All,

I do not currently own any MMG, I share my information, because I am 'in the thick of it', with a large number of our staff owning MMG, and our company is listed on the substantial shareholdings list of MMG.

I hope that clears that one up for everyone :)

David Best, and some of the other members of staff, read ALL the BB's, and when they see blatent ramping like that on adv-fn, suggesting a deal is done or nearly done when it isn't, they probably think it is the reason for the price rise, so they will release an announcement like today's, to get things back into perspective.

They also dismiss the lies, misinformation and ramblings of bashers on ADV-FN, I know this because I witnessed David putting their lies into perspective, at a recent presentation to Analysts and Shareholders.

What they want is the value of the company recognised by the market, when MMG is compared to it's peers, not continual pump n' dumps, with traders making the most of the big price movement on small volume, to go long, then short, then long etc. they want stability.

On the other hand, it's a shame the price couldn't go high enough to make EK close his short, but I doubt it will go low enough for him to make any more money, than he could have already, by closing in the last few weeks.

Cheers,
PM

"thick" being the operative word.

seawallwalker - 26 Jul 2005 16:23 - 1825 of 2444

And on page 4 of threads........

MMG

Well now, any news, any perspectives, any day any how?

I am glad David puts things in perspective, that is an honerable thing to do.

Funny he did not do it at the dizzy heights of 3, (just a thought).

moneyplus - 26 Jul 2005 17:51 - 1826 of 2444

All gone very quiet again--hope there's some news soooooon!

mickeyskint - 27 Jul 2005 11:02 - 1827 of 2444

Got this from the other side. Could be a load of bollo.

DEMARK - 27 Jul'05 - 08:15 - 6132 of 6133

marauder,

announcement, i think, has been deliberately delayed to co-incide with big pharmas' quraterly numbers.

the only example that i could come up with is deutchepost's possible bid to exel as the market professionals are 99.9% positive that a bid in some shape or form is on the way. it is being delayed deliberately.

mickeyskint - 28 Jul 2005 15:32 - 1828 of 2444

From the other side. Creeping up on no news and pretty low volumes. Is this a re-run of a few months ago or is some news about to break. We'll soon see.

The extremely promising ruthenium cancer therapies are ready to go into clinical trials now. They appear to be more effective and very much safer than the existing platinum based therapies. David Best has said that they could have started the trials earlier this year but they elected to carry out extra safety studies to make the compounds even more attractive to big pharma. He said that these studies exceded what the FDA required but safety was now the biggest issue with big pharma and the extra tests would increase the amount they could squeeze out of the big companies in license payments and royalties.
It seems pretty clear to me from this and other snippets we have picked up on this board that it is the intention of Mr Best to sign up a partnership deal with one of the big boys in order to fund the ruthenium clinical trials. The potential sales of the ruthenium compounds is so large that a deal could transform mmg's (and its shareholders) financial position overnight. And it could happen any day. Maybe September but maybe tomorrow.

paulmasterson1 - 28 Jul 2005 21:26 - 1829 of 2444

Hi All,

Another ramp in action methinks, my mate a few desks away has heard nothing again, and the Insinger note still has not arrived.

These things take a long time, and the big pharma will want a lot more proof from trials, before commiting a penny, as opposed to DB suggesting it would 'help' their case with big pharma's by doing more studies. More studies take time, and that means a delay, not a quicker deal.

Oh well, up 'n down it will go again ....

Saying "The potential sales of the ruthenium compounds is so large that a deal could transform mmg's (and its shareholders) financial position overnight" is something everyone in MMG already knows, but the bears (EK is still short) know the company is only going to get that, once the drugs have proven their worth, not tomorrow or september, more like 3-4 months time, or even next year.

Cheers,
PM
