FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Greece's creditors are set to discuss Athens' new bailout proposals by teleconference at 11:00 GMT, EU sources told Reuters.

The conference will involve European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, European Central Bank President Mario Draghi, International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde and Eurogroup finance ministers' chairman Jeroen Dijsselbloem.

cynic - 10 Jul 2015 12:33 - 18154 of 21973

DOW
struggling to break 17,730 which is a bit dull, but hopeful that this will be comfortably breached when the market opens in us

Greek Centrist Party To Potami says it will back the government's bailout reforms package. "Certainly we will authorise the prime minister to bring a deal," spokesman Dimitris Tsiodras told Reuters news agency.

cum long appears to be the correct call as it stands - can take a while for the markets to digest......................then knowing the markets drop later :-)))) then........... ;

cynic - 10 Jul 2015 13:15 - 18157 of 21973

cum long?????? ....... and hard??????? :-))

cynic - 10 Jul 2015 14:42 - 18158 of 21973

DOW having a try at 17,800 and just pausing 20/30 points below, so hard to judge next move ...... i would have thought caution, so thus south, but not prepared to take a shot at it - for now at least

deltazero - 10 Jul 2015 17:32 - 18162 of 21973

yep - hard call but if it breaches 17800..............going saaaarrrrffffffffffff at the moment though lol

cynic - 10 Jul 2015 17:46 - 18163 of 21973

now heading back towards 17,730
that proved quite a tough resistance, so the reverse should also be true if you fancy a dabble ...... except that we're edging towards close of play of course and something of an unknown w/e ahead

Claret Dragon - 10 Jul 2015 17:56 - 18164 of 21973

Closed out for the week. Not going anywhere near platform until Monday.

Had a few small bites for small profits.

Anyone want to guess on Monday's open?

cynic - 10 Jul 2015 18:21 - 18165 of 21973

Market optimism
Posted at 21:19

US stocks have reacted positively to events in Greece, closing up either 1.2% or 1.5% - mirroring rises in European and Chinese stock markets.

18167 - and who cares? ...... bit like who cares that unite support corbyn for labour leadership; merely tells us what we all knew already

The neo-fascists like Manuel prefer a toff:

cynic - 11 Jul 2015 18:25 - 18171 of 21973

call GO what you like, for you are so totally purblind and obsessed with so-called class, which nonsense is of course perpetuated by neanderthals such as you ....

personally, i'ld be delighted if corbyn was voted in to lead the labour party, for it would consign it to the wilderness for a very very long time ..... which actually is not such a good thing
the best candidate would possibly have been Tristram Hunt, but of course fred and his pals would not be able to get his name past their lips

anyway, whatever label you wish to hang on GO, i think he's making a pretty good fist as chancellor, and i think history will show so
