MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

From the other side. Creeping up on no news and pretty low volumes. Is this a re-run of a few months ago or is some news about to break. We'll soon see.

The extremely promising ruthenium cancer therapies are ready to go into clinical trials now. They appear to be more effective and very much safer than the existing platinum based therapies. David Best has said that they could have started the trials earlier this year but they elected to carry out extra safety studies to make the compounds even more attractive to big pharma. He said that these studies exceded what the FDA required but safety was now the biggest issue with big pharma and the extra tests would increase the amount they could squeeze out of the big companies in license payments and royalties.
It seems pretty clear to me from this and other snippets we have picked up on this board that it is the intention of Mr Best to sign up a partnership deal with one of the big boys in order to fund the ruthenium clinical trials. The potential sales of the ruthenium compounds is so large that a deal could transform mmg's (and its shareholders) financial position overnight. And it could happen any day. Maybe September but maybe tomorrow.

Hi All,

Another ramp in action methinks, my mate a few desks away has heard nothing again, and the Insinger note still has not arrived.

These things take a long time, and the big pharma will want a lot more proof from trials, before commiting a penny, as opposed to DB suggesting it would 'help' their case with big pharma's by doing more studies. More studies take time, and that means a delay, not a quicker deal.

Oh well, up 'n down it will go again ....

Saying "The potential sales of the ruthenium compounds is so large that a deal could transform mmg's (and its shareholders) financial position overnight" is something everyone in MMG already knows, but the bears (EK is still short) know the company is only going to get that, once the drugs have proven their worth, not tomorrow or september, more like 3-4 months time, or even next year.

Cheers,
PM

PM - I think you're forgetting the NHL vaccine which has finished Phase II.
Only waiting for 1 sites data but apparently this will not affect the overall results which I've heard are something to get enthusiastic about, more so if you are unfortunate enough to be afflicted with said disease.

DYOR.

Hi All,

I did warn in post 1829 that there was no news in my office, and we have around 20 MMG investors here, including the 'big MMG man' with over half a mil', and in regular contact with DB.

More ups and downs to come before news arrives methinks.

Cheers,

Glad there's no insider dealing going on in your office........................

As if DB could really tell your mate anything before he tells the Stock Market?

lol

..

seawallwalker - 03 Aug 2005 07:45 - 1837 of 2444

swseun - it is never a good idea to ask that sort of question on a bb.

You are stitting on a paper loss at the moment, which will become a cash loss if you sell now.

Please make your own decision.

Good luck.

Seawallwalker Hi,

I will take your word for it :)

Sad to see John Hustler leave but I suppose the appointment of a full time Director will be more positive in the long term as opposed to one who is part time.
