FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

banked at 17,544 for no good reason other than that it was a respectable and quick profit

Too early ..

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 16:16 - 19048 of 21973

true but i'm working in dubai

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 17:37 - 19049 of 21973

any reason for the 250 point about turn on dow?
we are now in pretty nasty territory even in the event of a dcb

jimmy b - 09 Dec 2015 17:46 - 19050 of 21973

Can't see anything as yet ,everything just went in to meltdown .

Chris Carson - 09 Dec 2015 17:49 - 19051 of 21973

Reality setting in,., Time of the year, sell the rallies, wait till last week in Dec when volume is thin? This too will pass :0)

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 17:49 - 19052 of 21973

dow bounced off ~17400 and back through the next point at 17420, but it is/was unnerving that 17500 had little more resistance (support!) than a chocolate fireguard

Claret Dragon - 09 Dec 2015 19:42 - 19053 of 21973

Ftse 100. Not looking good at all.

cynic - 10 Dec 2015 16:49 - 19054 of 21973

gosh .... no one been here for a few days ..... shell shock?
anyway, dow looking moderately perky, but having fallen off its daily highs (again), it really could do with finding some northerly impetus

jimmy b - 10 Dec 2015 17:51 - 19055 of 21973

I still have a FTSE long that is slightly down but i'm staying put for now .Big rebound some where down the road .

jimmy b - 11 Dec 2015 09:02 - 19057 of 21973

Relentless ,all week and it looks like we are going to finish that way .

cynic - 11 Dec 2015 09:20 - 19058 of 21973

it's been a vile end to the year
the only very small glimmer lies with dow which is managing to hold above 17,500 though there was a scare a couple fop days back

cynic - 11 Dec 2015 10:37 - 19059 of 21973

and another sudden and, as far as i know, inexplicable collapse

jimmy b - 11 Dec 2015 10:38 - 19060 of 21973

Oil has a lot to with it ..

Fred1new - 11 Dec 2015 10:49 - 19061 of 21973
