Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

markymar - 03 Dec 2003 11:36

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

http://www.guardian.co.uk/oil/story/0,11319,1597306,00.html

Just read an interesting article in the Guardian newspaper about Talisman taking over Paladin Resources.

Whats interesting is that they are paying $15 a barrel and Paladin has proven and probable reserves of about 190m barrels.

Now when you look what Desire could possibly be sitting on compared to Paladin it makes this share look as cheap as chips as if we hit oil when drilling does recommence then the probable goes out the window and the word proven reserves is used, not only will the share price go through the roof all other prospects then get re-rated as at the moment very little is priced in to the share price as proven reserves and we are not talking a million we are talking billions of barrels Desire could be sitting on.

Just a thought but does make think why its worth holding these shares.

Hi all

Thanks Markymar.

I will post a weekly chart tonight each candle has 1 weeks value, this shows where the supoort area is on the weekly candles. This weeks candle has bullish implications, it shows the bulls have given support at this level. The support on the daily chart was punctured slightly. The bulls have pushed the share price back up above 0.2450p. Todays candle (on the daily chart) is a doji which suggests there is indecission, this could be that the oil & gas sector took a dive today. DES is currently above the falling resistance line, this line has been forming since the gap down (22/09/05). DES has been above this line for the last 2 days. There was a large sell which came late in the day, this may affect Mondays opening price. Britishbulls.com still have DES on a buy if. Going back to the oil & gas sector, it has taken a bit of a battering just of late. I think we may be seeing some recovery next week.

Marky

Possibly If Could

3 wells to drill, 3 chances
no rig, or sign of rig
no oil=no value
Share price has more than halved
I admire your faith and resilience in the face of the odds.

markymar - 21 Oct 2005 22:24 - 1928 of 6492

coeliac1,

The reason I first bought in to this share was I was told the from the houses mouth that Shell had hit a gusher and had to cap the well, I dont think after all these years in anything I have ever read that one well was capped by Shell but I believe what I was told as the bloke was on the Borgny Dolphin back in 1998.

All I have ever read was 5 out of 6 had oil shows so am either wrong with my info or going to be a very rich man, I like to think very rich hence accumulated a lot of shares since 1998 and believe in the findings of the BGS who are funded mostly by?

By the way so far 3 holes will be drilled all with mulit targets so that means 6 prospects and if Liz comes up trumps she is at least 6 times bigger than Paladian has at the moment.

Its a once in a life time opportunity and very happy with my ticket, and I dont buy a lottery ticket as the odds are terrible I like the odds of 4 to1 with the minimum of 6 chances so far.

The rig will come funds are in place 2006 or 2007 i dont care 2007 better for capital gains on recent buys, but there again am buying when ever i have fresh money.

lynnzal - 21 Oct 2005 23:03 - 1929 of 6492

coeliac1 are you really sick as suggested by your name. I think it is shamefull to make light of such a terrible medical condition. Therefor stick to driftwood1 or KO, eh. I have to say, I really do wonder why you continue to hang around ..other than trying to be clever with markymar.
I've been talking bearish about DES for some time now and have avoided upsetting all the poeple that you have......why do you do it?
Give everyone a break. Stick to your own trading strategy and if you have something valid to say then say it. It's almost a year since you have started trading now and I think you should try to be a bit more constructive in your approach to the markets. Still thats my opinion and I cannot stop anyone playing childish games. I just feel there are better ways for you to find satisfaction.

Hi Marky Eddie Lynnzal and other hardliners.
Marky you heard it from the horses mouth, ref your last post.
Good enough for me, typing error.
I know i blow hot and cold, but i believe with good reason
as been burnt badly before, i like management to deliver what
they promise, what they say, and on time. We all know this is a highly volatile stock. But the potential
Upside is massive if delivered, downside now not to much given the current sp
with cash support at 16p. But still a rock and a hard place holding your nerve.
What i do struggle to get my head around is we can't find a rig because
crude price has doubled shouldn't we be singing as if believed, 2bill barrels
potential to recover, raises the potential nav from est 25 Bill to 50 Biil sterling
scary numbers i know so why the crap sp.
Been holding for a long time and will continue without selling
in for the ride to exhaustion.
will try to ignore the minority wind up merchants in future
who only stir it up with no substance.
Wishing well to all supporters just hope the waiting
game doesn't go on for to much longer.

I have been away from the computer for a few days but noticed an article in the FT on Friday that stated that Encana are rumoured to be about to receive a bid from Shell, Talisman's bid for Paladin was also mentioned. Surprised there isn't more talk of this here-only Marky has raised the topic. Hoping Desire aren't taken over before we have discovered significant quantities of oil. Pleased to see the chart looking more and more like the end of May.

Thank you Eddie for pointing out the spring.

driftwood1 - 23 Oct 2005 18:33 - 1933 of 6492

Talking is done, Chaco Resources got their news as promised, I don't understand why you guys are still in the dark? It won't be good news I'm told but not the end of the world.

The above messae talks of a takeover for Encana, it's all nuts, no such talk is taking place. BP and indeed Shell are looking but nothing is happening at the moment and don't get any hopes of DES PET being taken over.

Rockhopper Exploration plc
24 October 2005

PRESS RELEASE

For immediate release: 24 October 2005

Rockhopper Exploration plc

Seismic Contract and Update

2D seismic - new data collection programme and update on interpretation of
existing data

Rockhopper Exploration plc (Rockhopper) is pleased to announce it has entered
into a contract with Geophysical Service Incorporated (GSI) to perform a 2D
seismic survey over licences PL023 & PL024 in the North Falkland Basin which
should be completed by the end of Q1 2006. The survey will consist of
approximately 900 km of acquisition.

Licences PL023 and PL024 extend over an area of 4200 km2 in water depths of
between 120m and 200m. Rockhopper has now completed an interpretation of the
existing 1832 km of 2D seismic data covering the licenced areas and the results
confirm the presence of a number of prospects and some 17 leads.

The J1 prospect is a robust 4 way closure, with potential oil-in-place of over
300 million barrels as assessed by Scott Pickford Limited. The J Central and J
North prospects have the potential to contain 90 and 30 million bbls
respectively in place based on the company's own estimates. The leads range in
size individually from 70 million bbls potentially in place to over 850 million
bbls potentially in place based on the company's own estimates.

The new survey is intended to better define the J1 prospect in licence PL024 as
well as a number of other leads and prospects in PL023 and PL024 which are have
been identified on the existing 2D data.

Rockhopper's other 100% licences, PL032 & PL033, are covered by approximately
1540 km of 2D and 368 km2 of 3D seismic data.

Licences PL032 and PL033, which lie in 350m to 500m of water contain a number of
prospects and leads which have been mapped at various levels. Most of these
prospects are downfaulted closures against the main fault at various levels on
the eastern basin margin. These range in size from 290 million barrels to 620
million barrels potentially in place according to the company's own estimates.
In addition to the downfaulted closures, two large 'pinch-out' prospects have
been mapped, one with over 150 million bbls potentially in place, the other with
over 1.5 billion bbls potentially in place based on the company's own estimates.
Further 3D seismic is required to develop the acreage for potential drilling.
Funding is in place for this new 3D and a programme has already been designed.

Hi all

No movement either way today, we have a four price doji (open, high, low & close all the same price). This suggest the market is indecisive. The volume was very low also today. Although there wasn't any movement DES is above the 10 day moving average. DES hasn't been above the 10 day moving average since 01/09/05. So the chart is looking slightly better.
