World cup 2010, What chances for the Home sides and Ireland !. (2010)

required field - 12 Oct 2008 18:43

Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

Treblewide - 16 Oct 2008 15:06 - 20 of 1154

hils....take gary mcallister as an expample...he did the unthinkable for a scotland player...he missed a penalty in a major finals against england...he was never forgiven for it and got abuse playing for scotland after that...but he continued on for many years.....he did not go in the huff and ask for his ball back so he could go home to mummy crying...it is a man's game...get fookin on with it

And who can forget the ali tartan army.they were good.sorry tartan barmy!
Pissy offee aint it!

hilary - 16 Oct 2008 15:17 - 23 of 1154

Of course the fans have got every right to boo whoever they want to boo for whatever reason they want to.

If booing your own players were to serve for the common good of the team, then I think it should be encouraged. Somehow though, I doubt that it did anybody any good whatsoever on Saturday. And, as ChilliBoy says, it was almost certainly a small element of Arsenal fans who did the booing on Saturday. What does that say about the Gooners? They really aren't the brightest bulbs in any box.

It also says if you dont live your life in a decant and honest manner.expect repercussions!

hilary - 16 Oct 2008 15:28 - 25 of 1154

I'm not a great fan of him either, ChilliBoy, but he is probably the best left back in the world who also happens to be English and I really don't see the point in booing one of your own players just because you don't happen to like his moral standards.

Dil - 16 Oct 2008 15:35 - 26 of 1154

Cheryl hopes he carries on playing for England ... least she knows where he is for a couple of hours.

Andy - 16 Oct 2008 15:35 - 27 of 1154

Dil,

Wales looked good in the recent match i saw them play, where a certain Sam Vokes scored the winner!

however, the lack of firepower gives them a significant challenge to overcome, and I for one hope you DO qualify, as I support Wales in any match except when they play Cashley Cole and his overrated and overpaid buddies.

tabasco - 16 Oct 2008 15:36 - 28 of 1154

Did I say I booed himthink notdidnt agree with booing as it penalized other innocent team members.but what goes round comes round.you play with fire you get burnt! By the way he aint a great defendernot a bad footballerthere is a difference!

Andy - 16 Oct 2008 15:39 - 29 of 1154

Hilary,

I attend every home match my team plays, and i can auusre you that home players are booed, and rightly so sometimes.

they are not overpaid premiership players either, but they take it on the chin as one of the hazards of the trade.

I think Cole epitomises everything I see wrong with the celebrity culture that has embraced premiership footballers, I feel no sympathy for him whatsoever.

You should look at how he treated his former fans and employers, and then his wife!

Would you encourage that sort of behaviour in your children?

Dil - 16 Oct 2008 15:40 - 30 of 1154

Did you boo Lampard when he played for you tabby ?

tabasco - 16 Oct 2008 15:45 - 31 of 1154

Bit late Andy but quite agree!... Dil either Lampards owe West Ham nothing!

Treblewide - 16 Oct 2008 15:50 - 32 of 1154

"probably the best left back in the world" come on hils...yer joking...he is better than average....no more than that...far from world class i am afraid

Treblewide - 16 Oct 2008 15:52 - 33 of 1154

best three left backs in the world are (in order)

Lahm
Grosso
Zambrotta

Dont believe the premier league hype...Cole would not even get into the top 10

Dil - 16 Oct 2008 16:08 - 34 of 1154

Gareth Bale is better than Cole.

tabasco - 16 Oct 2008 16:17 - 35 of 1154

Germany FranceItaly Christyour serious about your football treblemouth.all that travelling must take care of your weekendcant say Ive seen your selections play that often to form an opinion!... I expect your right though?

Treblewide - 16 Oct 2008 16:22 - 36 of 1154

you do not need to travel to see them play sky sports and setanta cover all of the major leagues in europe and they are all internationals although i have seen the italians play at home and away over the last few years against scotland...the problem with the english is they watch the premiershit and that is it and they assume there is nothing outside of it.

I bet there are also 10 better left backs then Cole in south america but i do not see much of their football

i would put Evra above Cole as a better left back in the Premiershit (aka the league with no soul)

tabasco - 16 Oct 2008 16:35 - 37 of 1154

Inverness CT v Hamilton AC your premier league dont do it for me treblmouth.dont have the same ring as Man. Utd v Chelsea.and Dil I aint even going to go there!

Treblewide - 16 Oct 2008 16:40 - 38 of 1154

it does for me as i live near to hamilton and i go to watch them a few times a year and they have the best young crop of scottish talent in all of our leagues, not overpaid millionaires with no connection to the area.....Chelsea mean nothing to me....and Man U only a passing glance as they have SAF the scottish legend in charge........so each to their own

Dil - 16 Oct 2008 16:46 - 39 of 1154

They still got a couple of English guys at Man U and Celsea then tabby ?

And anyway I thought they were just a couple of Yanky and Russian owned teams playing in England but I guess I'm wrong again.
