FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

The FTSE is displaying a head and shoulders chart.

Hmmm.....I wonder! It's not that easy. No doubt bartering with some Oriental Gentlemen over a hookah.

More like robbing them -):

RTN
t/o suggested ...... just possibly worth a small punt on the back of that

FTSE + DOW
shall prob close my short positions this morning and may even go modestly long
reasonably likely that many bears will tuck away their profits for the week before close of biz today

cynic - 20 May 2016 08:21 - 20716 of 21973

followed my own advice for a change and have done all 3 of the above :-)

Manuel.

It has been noticed, but self-awareness in some is said to be a virtue.

markets don't seem to be going anywhere, so banked an adequate profit on DOW long but have left FTSE one to run

watching S&P to see if it can at last break north of 2060

Stan - 23 May 2016 22:15 - 20724 of 21973

Dow flat.

cynic - 24 May 2016 12:27 - 20725 of 21973

FTSE, DAX, DOW and S&P are all hovering around interesting resistance levels

i've now encashed my FTSE long and shall watch and await developments ..... hope to keep twitchy fingers still!

cynic - 24 May 2016 16:54 - 20726 of 21973

must check what caught the attention of DOW

Stan - 24 May 2016 17:13 - 20727 of 21973

cynic - 24 May 2016 17:21 - 20728 of 21973

stunning new house building numbers in usa i read

however, this must make a rate rise in usa ever more imminent, so i wonder if there will now be a bit of consolidation or even indigestion

shame i encashed my index longs far too early, but never mind

Claret Dragon - 25 May 2016 05:31 - 20729 of 21973
