rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

markets don't seem to be going anywhere, so banked an adequate profit on DOW long but have left FTSE one to run
watching S&P to see if it can at last break north of 2060

FTSE, DAX, DOW and S&P are all hovering around interesting resistance levels
i've now encashed my FTSE long and shall watch and await developments ..... hope to keep twitchy fingers still!

stunning new house building numbers in usa i read
however, this must make a rate rise in usa ever more imminent, so i wonder if there will now be a bit of consolidation or even indigestion
shame i encashed my index longs far too early, but never mind

The head of the US Federal Reserve said on Friday that a rate rise would probably be appropriate in “coming months” if the US economy continued to improve, in the strongest signal yet that the central bank could tighten monetary policy this summer.

DOW
now tumbling sharply and through first support of 17,845 ...... 17,800 is next stop if no recovery
FTSE
still holding above 6,250 but one must ask for how long if DOW is falling sharply and the referendum fast approaches

FTSE
closed just below the important support/resistance of 6205, so banked a modest profit on that short
DOW
currently 17,786 which is very much betwixt and between
watch for a close or sharp move either below 17,740 or above 17,810
