Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

markymar - 03 Dec 2003 11:36

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

Hi all

DES moved down a little today, the volume was lower again today. The sell if on Britishbulls.com was not confirmed. Confirmation is still required. Which ever way DES goes tomorrow, just takes us a day closer to getting a rig.

eddieshare - 22 Dec 2005 12:54 - 2075 of 6492

Hi all

Yep DES is looking very good this far. It'll be great if DES closes on the days high.

eddieshare - 22 Dec 2005 19:34 - 2077 of 6492

Hi all

What a DES fantastic day. DES made great gains today, although the sells seemed to be more than the buys, there were a lot of unkown which must have been buys also. The volume was up some today also. DES is currently above the 60 day moving average. The 10 day moving average has just come up through the 20 day moving average. DES has a few buy indicators Renco, Point & Figure and candles now suggesting buy signals. Britishbulls.com have DES on a hold, from a buy, DES has gained 15.46% since the buy signal. DES was the 2nd highest mover by % in the oil and gas sector today. All being well the bulls & MMs will be pushing DES up some more.

Cheers Edd, Marky, and all supporters, have a good one.
About time some good news came through,
still a bit thin but at least positive,
news of a rig date in Jan would be welcome.
Alll the best

Hi all

I'll use the chart above.

Another nice move up today, the sells looked to more than the buys again, with quite a few unknown. The volume was reduced again today. DES closed on the high of the day and still has a hold tag on Britishbulls.com. Continuation would be nice.

Good Luck All

Falklands: Businesses optimistic despite economic challenges

Businesses are incredibly optimistic about their future in the Falkland Islands, despite the economic challenges they currently face.

The sectors identified as having the best potential for future growth were tourism and oil/mineral exploration.

Huge oil find in Brazil which may help DES get a rig

luckyswimmer - 28 Dec 2005 16:56 - 2083 of 6492

nkirkup - I hope you're right, I wonder how similar the geology is in the Campos basin to the FI. I understand your reasoning, the more activity there is offshore Brasil then the greater likelihood of getting a rig from there. I'm not sure about the politics though of lending a rig which may upset Argentina, the rig may have to come from the North Sea again.

If Borders and Southern share price rises any more then I will start to think a deal is in the making, it reached an all time high today.

luckyswimmer - 28 Dec 2005 17:57 - 2084 of 6492

Having done a bit of research about the Campos basin compared with the Falklands plateau it seems that back in 2000 the USGS estimated P5% oil reserves for the Falklands plateau to be 17,000 mmbo whereas the Campos Basin had P5% 36,000 mmbo. So Desire is drilling in a region which may be half as prolific as the Campos basin - that would be nice.

I like the way you're thinking LS. Better still if we realise it next year.

eddieshare - 29 Dec 2005 22:38 - 2088 of 6492

Hi all

DES put in another great performance again today. The bulls are looking pretty strong still, DES closed on the days high. The volume was a little higher, but should increase as any more news filters through. There is some resistance at about 0.3200p, but this I think will be short lived. Things seem to be getting back on course.
