Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

markymar - 03 Dec 2003 11:36

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

Hi all

What a great performance for Friday. DES made great gains last week, all great signs for the new year. DES has a bit to do yet, resistance is at 0.3400p through to about 0.3700p, the 200 day moving average is about the midle. I f we see DES clear these early in the new year It'll be great.

Hi all

Another great day for DES, there is signs of resistance on todays candle. This is the shadow on top of the real body. DES is performing well but may take a breather here before going back up through the falling window that was formed with the gap down a couple of months ago. DES has been up through the 200 day moving average today, this is a great sign of things to come. Just hope we continue the momentum.

So FOGL are being eaten in million share blocks today, BOR has recently soared for no apparent reason, both reaching or surpassing previous highs. It could be New Year enthusiasm or it could be that a farm-in deal is being thrashed out in the Southern waters ( RKH has not moved off it's lows much and Desire has only just returned to fair value so the Northern holdings do not seem to be chased as strongly). It looks like investors think there is more short term potential in the South than in the North which isn't consistent with the detailed 3D seismic already carried out in the North or the enticing geology of an ancient rift valley with it's associated sandy deltas found in Desire's plot. I hope if deals are being struck that Phipps ensures Desire is included even if it means losing a few percent of the oil.

Thank you Eddie for the great graphics

Hi all

DES made a small move down today, the resistance is at the falling window which is where the large gap down appeared a while ago. DES may spend a little time here after a realy great move up. DES is showing support as there was a gap up on yesterdays candle, DES has managed close above the days low, which means we are still getting support as the price drops.

Repsol and Petrobras lead the way offshore as new state oil outfit Enarsa targets joint venture schemes

By Upstream staff

Brazil's Petrobras and Spain's Repsol YPF are heading the pack of companies hoping to forge offshore joint ventures with Argentina's enigmatic state oil company Enarsa, writes Gareth Chetwynd.
Petrobras was poised to sign concession agreements for blocks CAA 40 and CAA 46 in early 2004 when President Nestor Kirchner's administration announced that rights to about 600,000 square kilometres of unlicensed offshore acreage would revert to new state entity Enarsa.

Undaunted, the Brazilian company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Enarsa, and is preparing to start talks for new offshore acreage.

Executive manager for the Southern Cone region Decio Oddone said Petrobras expects to sign new permits next year. He admits that the range of outstanding matters includes the definition of the areas to be explored and joint-venture terms, although exploration is expected to kick off in the same area off central Argentina where Petrobras was poised to acquire acreage last year. "Argentina is still a virgin offshore area. It's much more frontier than Brazilian offshore areas, for example," Oddone says.

Repsol YPF has also outlined plans to shoot seismic in deeper waters, on Block CCM2, in the Colorado Marina basin and was poised to acquire Blocks CAA 47 and CAA 7 when ownership reverted to Enarsa.

Repsol YPF chief executive Antonio Brufau was one of the first to express interest in partnering Enarsa in offshore exploration, and visited Kirchner in December to press his company's case. Repsol's strategic plan for 2005 to 2009 includes investments of $6.7 billion earmarked for Argentina.

France's Total has adopted a lower-profile stance toward Enarsa, but is currently the largest offshore producer in Argentina by virture of its Carina-Aries project, and was poised to acquire rights to Block CAA-34/A before the area reverted to Enarsa.

Enarsa president Exequiel Espinosa says the first blocks to be allocated will be off Buenos Aires, Rio Negro and Santa Cruz province, is with joint ventures to be determined on a case-by-case basis. He adds that invitations will be extended to a range of global oil companies.

Enarsa's efforts to stimulate interest in other areas have aroused some scepticism due to the poor quality of seismic data and lack of a regulatory framework permitting the acquisition of data on a spec basis.

Kirchner says future partners of Enarsa will receive incentives, but Espinosa has roundly rejected oil industry claims that Argentina's sliding export tax for crude set at 45% of the value of a barrel of oil once the price passes $45 is hurting business.

ROCKHOPPER EXPLORATION PLC

ELECTROMAGNETIC SURVEY INFORMATION NOTICE

Rockhopper Exploration plc will undertake an Electromagnetic Survey in the North Falklands Basin commencing Sunday 8th January 2006.

The survey will be undertaken by the research vessel "Aurelia", radio call sign 9HFI8 (NINE HOTEL FOX INDIA EIGHT). Depending on weather conditions the survey is expected to take around 20 days to complete. The Aurelia has a bright red hull and a white superstructure.

The Aurelia will place a number of receivers on the seabed along the length of the survey lines to be targeted at approximately 1-kilometre intervals. The receivers are left on the seabed for the duration of the survey period. When the receivers are in place on the seabed, the Aurelia will run towlines at 1.5 knots towing an electromagnetic source. This electromagnetic source is towed approximately 30 metres above the seabed, on an electro-hydraulic winch, approximately 100 metres astern of the vessel. On successful completion of the towlines the seabed receivers will be recovered by means of acoustic releasing mechanisms.

Marky

I have looked at the britishbulls website a few times but can't say it makes that much sense to me as it seems to be a purely chartists take on things. Tell me i am wrong by all means. I am a momentum player myself- though as it happens I have a fairly positive view of this stock as it has bounced off the bottom. There is only so far a price will go down and I think we are likely now to be on the up as newsflows start to pick up and time to get a rig/farmin RNS gets shorter by the day.

markymar - 10 Jan 2006 11:10 - 2111 of 6492

I totally agree with you thing should start to pick up and it looks like RKH are back on track with the job they have to do,any news from RKH should help DES SP.

Just need that rig.......has the rig been delayed for a reason...time will tell!
