rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

am going to the gym shortly so shan't be able to follow, but i note cash Dow is now quite comfortably below 18,320
a short is worth considering

Closed FTSE for 26 pts .

Dax now barely 10,400 and a quick look at the charts over the last couple of days indicates that a modest long may not now be a bad idea

i've tried to get a clue as to where Dow may now be headed, but certainly the daily chart just looks rather messy

Not looking good going into weekend. Are the Banks going to finally kill of the bull run again!!!!!!!!!!!

forgot it was a holiday in germany so Dax doing nothing and Dow looking to weaken only a tad

Brave or silly , we'll find out later ,i'm around evens at the moment ,i shorted when it took a big spike up this morning.

FTSE too high now... a short is only logical.

except that markets are never logical :-)

the argument against is that FTSE has now firmly breached the 6955 resistance

I'm about 20 pts to the good .with the DOW falling i may get a little more .

FTSE will be down tomorrow below 6900.

having trouble breaking 10,580 barrier ..... if it sneaks towards it again and you are alert, may be a time to short

Close FTSE short yesterday ,ended up a 12 point loss from being in front , opened again just now , can't keep going up forever .
