Yes it is that time of the year again - the children went back to school and promptly brought back their germs which, with their usual generosity in these matters, they happily shared with their dad.

Even worse one of them picked up the dreaded thread worms - I think they are even worse than the nits.

Sounds like you are having a whale of a time. There's nothing like kids to keep you on your toes.

little willie - 27 Sep 2003 21:11 - 2156 of 23498

Ah the Millwall Mutt has returned from stirring up the Turkish/Greek war!
Tell me Jeff; if Turkey invaded Cyprus from the rear would Greece help?
How did it all go, total success or any probs there? Welcome back anyhow.
Believe 'The Saints' lost today, wonder how your lot got on.
Daresay you'll have rec'd Hils 'gem' mail, here's hoping its correct info.
Hanging my head in shame as didn't follow up your info of a few weeks ago re pdx, all to my cost; maybe the gem will make up for it.
Saw the mail re your 78 smash hits; I couldn't work out how to get them here even if I got a modern 78 record player, have an antique one here but no idea if it works.
G is calling, time for a small brandy and then the wooden hill as we're now in Spring and getting up time has shifted somewhat.

Hows it going mate. Loved Cyprus, the Greek Cypriots are great, most of them sound like they are from Newcastle anyway, and probably are. Great weather, food and they drive on the same side of the road as us.

West Hame V Millwall tomorrow, apparantly one of the biggest Police operations staged at a footie match.

Not been doing much share wise, do a bit of Dow dabbling now and then but nothing serious. How is your investing going?, I see TRK is up and down like a whores draws, you still in that one?

Hil has been on a bit of a run lately, so ignore her at your peril.

I'm just looking for a holiday in Florida for begining of Nov, 26th wedding anniv so want to take the wife away. Probably somewhere like Sarasota or Naples.

Hope you and G are well

Socrates - 28 Sep 2003 15:55 - 2158 of 23498

Hi Jeff, good to have you back again.

jeffmack - 28 Sep 2003 16:11 - 2159 of 23498

Afternoon Socs
What you up to? I'm on the DIY trail, but very boored with it

Socrates - 28 Sep 2003 17:09 - 2160 of 23498

Hi Jeff, not up to much really. Got a stinking cold so not feeling too lively. Been looking at a few shares and passing on the benifit of my wisdom(?) on one or two bulletin boards, apart from that, not a lot.

Have you kept up with Wiggins? Developments there look quite 'interesting' although what it means for shareholders remains to be seen.

This_is_me - 28 Sep 2003 18:18 - 2161 of 23498

Socks

Hops it wasn't Me germs you caught; it's amazing what viruses you can pick up from the internet!

How many Cypriots are going to the Eng/turkey riots?

jeffmack - 29 Sep 2003 16:08 - 2162 of 23498

Hilary
If you want a copy of the Doddy article send me your address.

hilary - 29 Sep 2003 16:39 - 2163 of 23498

Thanks Jeff. That's a kind offer but I'm not that bothered about it.

Glad to hear that Cyprus was fun. I recall a trip up the Troodos mountains in an open top Jeep in spring one year. J had a crazy idea that if there was snow we might be able to ski. Derrrrrr!

Socrates - 29 Sep 2003 16:49 - 2164 of 23498

Hilary
That's not such a crazy idea. It was a boast of airmen I have known that they would go skiing in the morning and swimming in the afternoon, gave the sea time to warm up a bit. OK for some.

jeffmack - 29 Sep 2003 17:05 - 2165 of 23498

Hil / Socs

Apparently there are two recognised Ski runs that are open from about Dec to Feb. Probably not up to the standard of the more recognised ski resorts around Europe. I guess that your main priority when choosing a ski resort is a good doctor/hospital on hand...LOL

little willie - 29 Sep 2003 18:07 - 2166 of 23498

Especially for Hils. Leastways that was her explanation, reckon a chandelier might have been involved tho'. Glad that the legs getting better...lol..lw
:0-))

little willie - 29 Sep 2003 18:09 - 2167 of 23498

oh yes. pint of mild shandy please...all in my dreams over here!
Hot day!

This_is_me - 29 Sep 2003 19:22 - 2168 of 23498

LW there is a buisness venture for you - open a ski run on mount killy (no I can't spell it)

hilary - 29 Sep 2003 21:05 - 2169 of 23498

I'm too old for chandeliers, lw. But upside down over the bannisters ........ that's a different kettle of fish. Night, night.

:-)

little willie - 30 Sep 2003 11:50 - 2170 of 23498

Didn't get any sleep last night, got up at 3am and just sat there gazing at our bannisters; unbelievable.

Timbo..apparently a black guy has already got the concession; jointly owned with some Irish guy the ski platform's at the bottom and they ski upward.
At the summit there's nothing but a huge bannister...oh yea, and a fish kettle.
:-0))
