THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Fred you are joking arent you.

Haystack - 21 Feb 2013 14:27 - 21624 of 81564

Cable won't take over. The Conservative MPs don't like him (neither do I).

I think it is very unlikely that Osborne will change jobs. He is doing a pretty good job in his current job. Cable has said that he thinks Osborne is doing all the right things.

hilary - 21 Feb 2013 14:35 - 21625 of 81564

Yes, Osborne is doing a good job as Chancellor. The economy should be in very good health by 2015.

I just wish they'd ditch this High Speed 2 nonsense. Who of sound mind would want to get to Manchester and Birmingham quicker? For a fraction of the money involved, they could knock Hadrian's Wall down and rebuild it 250 miles further south and 20' higher.

Fred1new - 21 Feb 2013 14:46 - 21629 of 81564

Hays,

The Cons don't even like themselves. They are clinging like drowning men to any raft they can grab, hoping to be saved.

What a crew!

Sainsbury products free from horsemeat, says supermarket
Thu 21 Feb 2013

LONDON (SHARECAST) - British supermarket J Sainsbury said Thursday no horsemeat was found in its beef products following 250 tests in line with the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The company's announcement came after a number of UK grocers were forced to recall beef-based meals containing horse DNA.

Tesco, Asda, Lidl, Waitrose, Iceland, Co-Op and Dunnes were among those told to withdraw items.

Sainsbury said it ensured quality control as through regular checks as it works alongside farmers.

“This is not just about our quality control measures,” the company said in a statement.

“Our entire supply chain, from farm to store, is built around long-term sustainable relationships to offer you the best quality products at fair prices - the bedrock of the trust we know you place in us.

“We work closely with over 2,500 farmers who are part of Sainsbury's dedicated Farmer Development Groups and have invested over £40m in developing these relationships, as part of our commitment to double our sales of British food by 2020.”

Shares rose 0.09% to 335.40p at 13:59 Thursday.

Last week UK’s Downing Street criticised the reluctance of stores involved in selling the products to speak up about the affected goods, saying it “isn't acceptable for retailers to remain silent".

The scandal erupted last month when tests carried out in Ireland revealed that some beef products contained horsemeat.

Cynic,

I doubt it, but will enjoy seeing a rout of the right wing of the con party.

I wonder how many tory camp followers will decamp to UKIP before then.

DIANE JAMES - UK Independence Party Seems to be doing well.

But Osborne's replacement will be after his next budget.

Only 1 economist in the whole cabinet(it shows)........ and hes a liberal......Vince the mince.

Are u sure fred about Osbourne or is it just sheer speculation.

Stuck on tinny lap top fishing on a dam. Caught nowt but the cold winter air is brill.

Cant check my usual sources on twitter on this thing.

cynic - 21 Feb 2013 15:58 - 21641 of 81564

fred - the reason (there are others!) that i get cross with you, is that you are happy to whine and whinge and berate the current gov't but can't be bothered to vote to do something about it ..... you are therefore no better than tin can rattling in the wind i'm afraid

============

gf - i used to really like those cod-liver oil capsules - must have been the only one who did ...... free 1/3 pints of milk too ......
i cannot see that there is anything remotely virtuous in being poor and making a big song and dance about it later in life (no, i did not say you did), but in my time i certainly hid from creditors and drove a mini-cab in the evenings to pay food and other bills ...... very difficult to use the clutch with bits of cardboard as shoes on ones feet

goldfinger - 21 Feb 2013 16:05 - 21642 of 81564

And who stopped the free milk cyners??????????????????.
