Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

My cousin (not the same surname as he my mother's brother's son) did an investigation on Ashcroft for one of the major papers and TV, He angered Ashcroft so much that he mentioned him in his autobiography by name and implied that he would get his revenge on him.

Took the dogs for a walk around the fields and back through the village. The fields have dried with the winds. Hands were frozen as I got home as I forgot gloves.
Cynic I bet you was warm with all that on and on the move. Did you win ?

About time Fred came on the thread :-)) -
•The term used to describe someone who hogs the conversation. Who just won't shut up, babbles on forever taking over the conversation and really has nothing important or interesting to say (rather like a filibuster)

indeed, though it was just a typical sunday (un)friendly 4-ball ..... i'm lucky enough to play at one of the "name" clubs ..... we played the championship course, and though only off the tees-of-the-day, it was still long and very tough, especially the last 4 which were straight into the breeze

from memory, he had a very good amateur record, but never did any good over here as a pro ... i don't think he has ever won on the us tour, but is a very consisent performer

Havent played golf since Tuesday as too cold for me, even when wearing the layers that cynic is, but I also wear plus twos which are also warm

I think George deserves better.
Hear that the party faithful are asking him to give up his day job.
A bit like they did with Norman.

i note that (fos)fred has selective reading or reporting, otherwise he would have noted that CBI and many business leaders believe that softening the current austerity programme would be nothing short of disastrous - seconded

The IMF also said that Osborne was doing the right things. Even Moodys said that more austerity is needed. Intact everyone except Labour and similar loony lefties agrees with the current economic policies.

You do swallow the spiel of your party leadership.

but (fos)fred doesn't of course .... he just swallows the bits he likes ..... he doesn't vote because he reckons it's his democratic right (in a way it is), but of course he then spouts incessantly as if he could do a better job ..... but again, he's not prepared to stand for public office of any kind, even within his local horticultural society - but of course that is his democratic right too
everyone except (fos)fred it seems to know that history does not actually repeat any more than fashion does, so what may have been good or ineffective in one era may have a totally different result in another.

Manuel, is it he who wishes to dictate to others standing up under the cloak of a belief in democracy?
History is continually repeating itself, only it does so in a slightly modified manners.
If one stands back and looks from a distance those repetitions become more and more obvious to the majority.
That is why some play the market, more successfully than others, hopeful that they can recognise the patterns early enough and place their "bets" accordingly.
Some are better than others at it.
Have another day.
