Taken with permission from another BB, any comments on stockbrokers using up allocations where the nominee client will not be taking up?

So many PI's will have their holding thro a nominee share company and not directly held in their name on the share register. If the nominee company knows that there will be shares not taken up under the offer, then the nominee company will be at liberty to make that purchase on its own behalf -- shows a fair bit of confidence in the potential for a profit you might think?

greekman - 27 Oct 2006 10:38 - 21871 of 27111

Cant see it causing a problem. As you say it does show confidence in a share.
Never really thought about it before.
Strange day at the moment. Very big spread (just closed a bit as I post). With the reasonable increase in the sp on low volume, looks like another day of big trades having been done but not being released until just prior to close.

hewittalan6 - 27 Oct 2006 10:45 - 21872 of 27111

It gives me the impression of a market holding its breath.............

greekman - 27 Oct 2006 10:50 - 21873 of 27111

Yes agree, no one wants to gamble too much at the moment. Its just the big spread with few buying/selling makes it look like the MM's are not bothered about making a market. Other days on similar trading volumes, the spread has been narrow. Just a thought.

gem - 27 Oct 2006 14:42 - 21874 of 27111

been away at her majestys pleasure for a while , anybody tell me how this wonder company has still failed to deliver, even the post office deliver quicker

sellsell - 27 Oct 2006 15:21 - 21875 of 27111

does anyone know whats going on today. 2 * 85m trades gone through at 1p

driver - 27 Oct 2006 15:25 - 21876 of 27111

1.7m I think who would hold that many shares?

hewittalan6 - 27 Oct 2006 15:27 - 21877 of 27111

As it was an O trade and so far out of the spread, I would normally expect that to be a rollover, but given the fact that the SP yo-yo'd like a pub strippers knickers for an hour before hand, God knows.

sellsell - 27 Oct 2006 15:43 - 21878 of 27111

is this the end !!!!

Sharesure - 27 Oct 2006 15:47 - 21879 of 27111

More to the point someone somewhere must be about to buy those shares so that may produce another notifiable stake RNS. SEO is very vulnerable at this price if the technology is as good as they would have us believe.
PS Anyone heard anything more about their ciggy filter deal Rothschild were meant to be pulling off for them? Surely they have had long enough, or is this another failure?

driver - 27 Oct 2006 15:49 - 21880 of 27111

Plus another 45m and a 10m shares is it the age of reason?

petegas - 27 Oct 2006 15:50 - 21881 of 27111

My first post after some 18 months of holding SEO at average of 18p. By following this spread I have at least had some idea as to what's going on as nothing of consequence from SEO at all. Anyway, no one seems to have picked up that Andy Bond of Asda is on Jeff Randall's Business Programme on Radio 5 on Sunday at 7pm and will be open to any questions from Joe Public.

So, there's a chance for all of you tecchies out there to ask him some relevant questions.

Many thanks to all those who contribute responsibly here - much appreciated.

pachandl - 27 Oct 2006 16:18 - 21882 of 27111

Thanks for all your responses. The trade patterns today look fascinating - but not very transparent!

driver - 27 Oct 2006 16:23 - 21883 of 27111

Fascinating more like frightening.

hewittalan6 - 27 Oct 2006 16:25 - 21884 of 27111

Only joking guys - chill out.

driver - 27 Oct 2006 16:27 - 21885 of 27111

Volume 186m amazing why couldnt we have had that when the sp was at 28p

hewittalan6 - 27 Oct 2006 16:27 - 21886 of 27111

One of those 85 million trades has disappeared off the list so it was definitely not a rollover.
