Dont like babalfish, it gives some strange resilts. I use freetranslation.com

Socrates - 04 Oct 2003 09:24 - 2229 of 23498

Babel fish are OK, fried in batter with chips.

little willie - 04 Oct 2003 15:18 - 2230 of 23498

Are they with the long testiclews that you fry in batter; calamari?

Socrates - 04 Oct 2003 16:34 - 2231 of 23498

Calamari, is that in Italy?

This_is_me - 04 Oct 2003 21:03 - 2232 of 23498

Are they the small fish things which you fry in your own ear wax if they give you the wrong translation? Things are bad in the tea room if you have to resort to frying your owm babel fish to get a morsel to eat! It's Saturday night - the girls are suposed to be looking after us properly!!

jeffmack - 04 Oct 2003 21:11 - 2233 of 23498

The girls are all hiding from them Premiership footballers

Isn't it just.

Socrates - 05 Oct 2003 13:04 - 2237 of 23498

Jeff
I see that the demise of Nothing Ventured has been announced. I've never used it myself but I suppose the inevitable result will be other sites will pick up some more users.

You're not at work today then?

jeffmack - 05 Oct 2003 13:29 - 2238 of 23498

Socs
No not at work today. Wife is at work until 2 the in lwas will be here so I am cooking the Sunday roast

Socrates - 05 Oct 2003 13:33 - 2239 of 23498

Funny that, I've just switched our oven on too. Her-indoors retired now though.

jeffmack - 05 Oct 2003 17:04 - 2240 of 23498

Yum Yum

Best bit of beef I've had in years

Socrates - 05 Oct 2003 19:00 - 2241 of 23498

That's odd, it was chicken when it went into the oven!

little willie - 05 Oct 2003 22:40 - 2242 of 23498

Talking of chicken......

The chicken and the egg were lying in bed.
The chicken is leaning against the headboard, smoking a cigarette and has a satisfied smile on his face.
The egg, looking a bit p****d off grabs a sheet, rolls over and says...
.
"Well I guess we finally answered THAT question".

Wouldn't work with a beef.

hilary - 06 Oct 2003 09:05 - 2243 of 23498

Isn't Sunday Roast a bit archaic, Jeff?

I can't remember the last time that we had a roast on a Sunday. It's normally a case of whatever's at the top of the freezer comes out and gets defrosted in the microwave shortly before we're ready to cook and eat. Yesterday though, I did make a large lasagne. In fact, thinking about it, it's about 8 or 9 years since we all sat down and had turkey on Xmas day. Last Xmas I seem to remember that we shared a fondue and for the previous umpteen Xmas' before that, it's been steak and prawns on the BBQ.

jeffmack - 06 Oct 2003 09:14 - 2244 of 23498

Hil
You are dead right, the traditional sunday roast is a thing of the past. Probably happens about 4 times a year in my household.

little willie - 06 Oct 2003 18:28 - 2245 of 23498

Oh c'mon you two miserable buggers;
I bet a case of Sauvignon Blanc that given the offer of Roast Leg of Lamb,
new spuds, fresh runners and either baby broad beans or garden peas with
onion sauce, mint sauce and thick real gravy
OR
rib-eye,sirloin, rump or fillet [a pretty tasteless cut imo]
.......................90% would take the roast..........................

OR it could just as easily be Leg of Pork with crackling and apple sauce, new carrots, cauli/white sauce

OR Wing Rib of Beef with roast parsnips, potatoes and real Yorkshire Puds
[not them bloody Aunt Bessies!] with onion gravy....

Oh Gawd, I'm salivating all over the keyboard..yum,yum,yum.

Well I bet thats me and Socs sorted, a lump of pizza or a Mexican wrap for the two aforementioned heathens.

Socrates - 06 Oct 2003 19:12 - 2246 of 23498

Hello all, poor old Socco has been in the grip of the tooth fairy. 55 for 20 minutes in the chair, I'm clearly in the wrong business.

All this talk of food is making me decidedly peckish, someone roast a cow for me whilst I get a very large loaf of bread. Sadly missed out on my desired Sunday dinner this week. I wanted a nice joint of Gloucester Old Spot pork but got to the butchers too late, none left. Had a nice roast chickadee instead.

You family people should get with the family quality time a bit. Everyone sat round a big table for an extended Sunday dinner with loads of grub and good conversation is a great bonding exercise.

I feel sorry for old LW, obviously hankering for the delights of the old country.

This_is_me - 06 Oct 2003 20:26 - 2247 of 23498

Sunday roast still happens every Sunday in our house as does turkey at Christmas.
