Have stayed away from board as no news and nothing positive to add.
Having trawled through the past dozen or so pages, is their a concensus re the immediate future of this company. Would welcome the views of all , especially those long term pi's.

my view, like the company, is worthless!! But if pressed, I would say the short term view is to bounce along at current rates, medium term either news to send it a little north or a takeover target.
Had an evening with an ecologically sound pair of acquantainces last night. They were very excited that they had bought pre-packed sandwiches from M&S, wrapped in cardboard and plastic, and the plastic stated it was made from corn starch adn was 100% compostible. They get excited very easily. They have since buried the waste in their garden to see what happens. Personally I would be very happy to see it grow a sandwich tree, but they want to see what it rots down to and how quickly. They really are depressingly sad.
My point in raising this is not to bull up SEO, for I have no idea at all if this product is related to SEO in any way, but to show how intense some people are with all things green. Based on the results of their back garden experiment, these good (if a little dull) people will actively search out products packaged in this way.
It is potentially a very sizable market. I just wish SEO could grab a slice.

on the subject of Tesco (and others) being committed to green policies, recommended reading is the article in today's Telegraph re Tesco shipping (well, trucking as Swiss coastline is limited!) CDs to Switzerland and back again to UK to avoid imposition of VAT ..... no more need be said!

SEO's future hangs on the value of Biotec and and what they will produce. Anything SEO have done and developed has turned to piss particularly at the sales and marketing stage! Greenseal is virtually dead, frogpack and all the other packaging stuff is selling virtually nowt and SEO can't even get MMFs in place for the US because some one at SEO forgot to think about raw materials. The really sad thing is that SEO won't even give any guidance to Biotec production for '07 / '08. I would guess that any PIs left in (including myself) are there purely by the fact they have some misguided confidence that the invested institutions know more than them and that they would not have invested millions based on the information that is currently available to all.

ps I have called the SEO management a bunch of incompetent wankers for some time now, although there have been numerous changes. My view has not changed with the new management and I expect a further RNS some time this year stating that Mines and / or Standen or other personnel have left for personal reasons.

NO, this sad PI is still here because its now not worth dumping!

Hindsight is torture sometimes....IF I had dumped my holding >20p, I could have paid off the mortgage and would still have been able to re-invest in this to the tune of 10m shares........

All I now hope is to break-even sometime soon.

My sentiments follow most of the previous.
There is a market for all of SEO's products. they have demonstrated their inability/nievety when it comes to marketing/selling/infrastructure.
Is it that they wanted too much re royalties? etc earlier on and deals fell through- we will never know.
How they cannot secure PLA sources is beyond me.

I think short term the sp will contines to fluctuate , well below 2p. On the strength of any deal they might notch up.
BIOTEC will keep them afloat a little longer- if the figures/projections are to be believed- however this is a company now linked to SEO -so beware.
In truth If they hit 5p I will sell my majority.
They now have to deliver. anything longer than 12 months and i will consider this a failure on the management side. THE RD is OVER.
It's your money and your choice. I certainly won't be buying any more shares and can afford to sit on my paper loss for a lot longer than the institutions will.

I have just had a serious investor tell me that SPhere are in the process of formulating an approach for SEO and it will come very soon.
I cannot substantiate this, and he gave me no real detail of what he expects, or the likely timescale other than to say it may be much sooner than I thought. (I thought possibly mid-late summer).
I will try and corroborate this, though I doubt very much that I can, so please do not hold me to ransom on it!!!

Mmmm ..... interesting post Alan.

Against the background of stories that SPhere are consdering a flotation during July to provide capital for targets in India and China (possibly a smokescreen). If they have any real intentions towards SEO, it makes interesting reading and does cause a lot of people who attended the AGM to reflect on PL's attempts to downplay the production figures at Biotec the effect of which will keep the share price suppressed prior to a bid.

Shoot me down in flames if you wish, but it does have a ring of credible possiblity about it doesn't it??

Groupe Sphere, the private French manufacturer of household wraps and waste collection packaging, is considering a float, two sources close to the situation have said.

One of the sources said that an initial public offer was one of the options to expand its business and finance further acquisitions. A spokesperson for the company said that an IPO is not on our calendar today, but didnt deny that IPO is a subject of discussion.

In April 2003, the Persenda family sold a minority interest to Barclays Private Equity, which leaves the current shareholder structure at 65% of the company being held by the Persenda family, 20% by Barclays PE and 15% by employees and management. It is understood that the company would be valued at about EUR 250m.

The French family-owned group would consider an IPO as soon as July 2007, one of the sources close to the situation said. It is understood that Oddo Finance has been appointed as the adviser for the listing, which however was played down by the second source.

Created in 1976, the group has revenues of EUR 300m and manufactures fruit and vegetable bags, food wrappings, films, baking parchment, food containers and has been quoted recently to be the last profitable company in the business following higher petroleum prices. Sphere has put an emphasis on biodegradable plastics with the acquisition of the German company Biotec in September 2005. John Persenda, chief executive officer of the company, has been reported by industry publications to be interest in buying companies in India or Brazil.

well so long at it's a buy out at 5p ish I can live with that.
Unfortunately I think IF it happens it'll be a lot less if it's a bit from the continent.
I also think SEO will flog bits off before any sale.......
The only upside of a potential bid would be to see who else pops out of the woodwork.
In the world of packaging theres plently of bigger players and I'm sure if the future is green , they'll want there share of biotec and the R&D and patents/ ip's owned and badly marketed by SEO.

Maybe there is a silver lineing to their incompentancy.

If they could'nt compete against a biger bidder........... they would'nt have much choice.
Anyway it's all mindless but entertaining speculation and if it punps up the sp ,I'm not complaining. Maybe it'll buck up the ideas of the board and we'll get some real progress/updates.

Value?? Like my opinion, it is worthless. The best one can say is that it will be more than the sp and less than we want, even if it does happen.
Lets be honest, time is not SEO's friend right now, and the longer things go on, the cheaper they will be to buy. If business is not forthcoming, then SEO will find itself hawking the streets like a tuppeny whore for a suitor who can take it on, regardless of price.
