How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

14:35 Tingle Creek Chase, will be a cracker. If you are on only one race today let this one be it. I will be maxed out on this one.

Chelsea match was good as well!
A wise move, if you are too close to getting emotional better to leave it.
On the Arsenal, Man U, Barcelona and Inter matches today and a bit on the others and the horse. Other than that I'm pretty quiet!!

After 4 days of trading, I've doubled my money. 101% to be precise.
Did well on the horses today but even better on the football and rugby.

Nice win on C.Palace v Charlton after greening up on the draw. (I know I shouldn't have)
Just as well, as Charlton scored in dying seconds.

Spaceman,
It's basically a process of laying off a bet so that you win whatever the result eg whatever horse wins a race, you win. Marvellous.

Just looking at FTSE bets. Can anyone tell me what the index open price is and how betfair determine it. Presumable it is not last night's close? TIA

Thanks Kayak. Given the 1 hr intraday shows the target figure I wonder why the midday/day ones don't.
Having great fun and greened up on the midday FTSE even if only +21p on the up!

Well done Kernow. To be honest I don't normally green up on the FTSE unless the outcome is very much in doubt. If it's pretty obvious it's going to stay one side or the other it just costs money to green up. It does mean you have to keep watching though.

I take your point. The novelty of a profit either way was hard for me to resist :-) ...and I suppose a quick lurch down in the FTSE will let me stay green but increase the up profit. I'm content to look/learn for now.
