At the present time, d2w, and any other oxo-biodegradable products, do not meet the requirements of EU Standards for degradable packaging. The significance of this and how this is likely to change are detailed below.
Standards
UK Standards are normalised with those of the EU. Domestic Standards are created by the British Standards Institute (BSi) who also administers those of the EU. The current Standard for degradable packaging is the European Standard, EN13432. A key feature of this Standard is the measurement (using the Sturm Test) of the speed of emission of CO2 in the course of degradation in compost. Although d2w products totally degrade, the speed at which they emit CO2 does not meet the current Standard - indeed, based on this definition even a leaf cannot be called 'degradable'.

The
UK's first fully accredited home compostable carrier bag will be launched at a supermarket in South East Cornwall on Monday.
The environmentally friendly bag will be launched at The Co-operative on Fore Street, Saltash, to encourage shoppers to cut down on using free plastic bags. Shoppers will also be able to choose a Fairtrade Cotton "Bag for a Better Life" or a plastic "Bag for Life", which The Co-operative replaces for free and recycles.
Plastic bag recycling bins are also being installed in the stores. Store manager Simon Ashley said: "The ultimate aim of this initiative is to see if we can help reduce the use of plastic bags.
"In order to do that, we need to show shoppers that there are alternatives to plastic bags and that, by using them, we can help reduce the impact on the environment. It's about winning over the hearts and minds of customers."
Today, Saltash shops will charge 5p per plastic bag in a Pay for the Bag Day organised by voluntary group Saltash Environmental Action.

Sold out at a profit, it was a punt.. very risky ..could go back above 1p but then again...might buy back in at some stage in the near future... but my idea is to make a profit on this.. if it dropped back to below .4p I,d be kicking myself...anyway I,ll be watching !

rf,
My idea is to make a profit on this as well. Thats why I've held it for several years and expect to hold for several more. It'll be 50p by 2099, IMO. I intend to live to be 144 just to prove the knockers wrong. My wife's none too happy about this as she wants the insurance. She says Stanelco have a lot to answer for.

Difficult one to predict... a few years ago I bought in around the 5p mark and then several other times all the way up to 27p when I sold out and then made the mistake of buying back in around 21p and then sold out at 15p...never bought back in until a couple of days ago... so it has been a bumpy old ride...I,m just trying to get it right now....though at the moment I'm taking a massive risk on FRR (oil stock) with huge potential...if that goes pearshaped....well I shall get my fingers really burnt...let's hope SEO recovers !

My flabber is well and truly gasted.
I cannot believe that with all the dealing we saw there is no company holdings RNS release.
My best guess is that a few shorts closed, and this stopped out others. This gave an opportunity to day traders, and others to jump the coat tails of a strong rise to average down, or get in for the first time, causing a greater rise and stopping out even more.
Even under these circumstances, this made the share less liquid than I thought.
If this is the case, it doesn't answer any questions, but it makes me uneasy that the results will be the same old same old and the SP will drop again afterwards.

Alan,
Results most certainly will be same old same old......no surprises and no fireworks!
IF anything significant to report, it would have been reported by now as they are legally obliged to do.

alan. Do you really expect anything else from SEO?

Not really :-(((
I just cannot shake the feeling that the no news RNS was trying to say something that it could not legally say!!!
I cannot shake the feeling that even SEO must be able to find a customer when every retailer in the UK is looking for alternatives to plastic packaging.
I cannot shake the feeling that the amount of trading we saw over 6 or 7 days means somebody knows something.
But then I realise its SEO we are talking about and realise the results will probably major on the improvements to the staff tea & biscuit kitty.

As there seems to be so much discontent with the non performance of the board of directors why dont the major shareholders (like Barclays) call for an EGM and vote to kick them out?

Halifax,
Do you have in mind any specific lunatic asylum from whence a new board could be recruited?
Its Recruitment time at Stanelco again!

Can we please stop picking on the board at SEO.
I for one would like to offer them a free holiday.......in Cuba
All they need to do is drive to their nearest airport, with jars of starpol strapped to their chests shouting BIO-degradable.
I hear the water-boarding at Guantanamo is particularly good this time of year.

The board could stay in Cuba and Fidel could come over here and run Stanelco. Who could turn down the 'offer' of a contract from Fidel?
In fact, this has got me thinking about my 'Dream Board' for SEO - if you could choose anyone, who would they be?
This is my choice - anyone have their own 'Dream Board' ?
