Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

hilary, post 26443 - I wouldn't bother, your posts are generally wasted on this thread and there is no point trying to reason with some people who are totally blinkered and cannot begin to join the dots together.

The cost to taxpayers of supporting the monarchy rose by almost £1m to £33.3m during the Diamond Jubilee year, it has been revealed.
Buckingham Palace accounts showed the Queen's official expenditure was £900,000 more in 2012/13 than in the previous 12 months.
The year's costs included £18.3m on staff and £9.1m on building upkeep.
we all have to make cuts but the royal household are not included

I don't have a problem helping to support the monarchy - the alternative to subsidising the Royal Family just doesn't bear thinking about, i.e. we could be subsidising a President Cameron or a President Milliband for example. Just think how much money this country would lose in tourism if we didn't have a Royal Family and Buckingham Palace.

The monarchy is a net earner for the UK. It brings in tourists and royal visits abroad generate trade. It keeps the commonwealth together. We may need the commonwealth for trade if we leave the EU.

The situation in many commonwealth countries is better than the EU. So, goo idea Haystack.
