Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Just spotted the offer at 0.39p - couldn't resist a few more just for fun.

Have now utterly exhausted all permissible funds. With no intention of selling anything in the near future, can now switch off the dreaded Mac and get on with my life for a few months, I hope. (OK, might sneak the odd look just to keep an eye on all of you!)

Everything showing as sells again today !

snakey - 06 Apr 2005 22:28 - 274 of 2787

Andy, good purchase. I`m in for another tranche tomorrow if I can hit 0.38 or less, as quotes I had all day were at 0.41. I must admit that this difference is, or shouldn`t be an obstacle, as these will hit 2p - 3p over next 6 months but I just want a bargain. Just to indicate my luck, I had Chelsea to win 4-1 tonight at 25/1 and the `referee !!` stole me money or Ballack cheated me out of it. I am seriously considering legal advice to make some bugger cover me losses and to ensure travesties such as tonight don`t happen again. TV replays/remote adjudicator must be employed to correct outrageous decisions like that made tonight, which could quite easily affect Chelski`s hit on the European Cup !!!! I was, and am, fuming. Possibly wrong board for last outburst
but good luck to all CFP`ers.

Why all the sells - MM's happy to take on stock at steady price (before the next upswing, we hope) but who's selling do we think? Do we care? What does it all mean?

Confused!

corehard - 07 Apr 2005 08:59 - 276 of 2787

May not be all sells... arawli posted 1m buy which appeared as sell on the feed.
I also purchased 200K which appeared as sell.

snip25 - 07 Apr 2005 15:23 - 277 of 2787

Not many left at this price chaps :0)

stockdog - 07 Apr 2005 15:34 - 278 of 2787

A solitary trade of 700k showing as a sell at midprice .41p - could equally well be a buy, since I and corehard both bought below the mid price yesterday.

Anyway a tick up of 5%+ in the bid price today is cheery to see. One of those a day till the end of the month would be nice.

Overgrowth - more sleuthing on their upcoming transactions, please. Also, is there a chart showing 50dma and 200dma on the same scale - watching for the golden cross (assuming 200mda is also rising by the time they meet, which is just possible) as a definite lift off point on the chart.

Transaction fees of say 30k, plus commision of say 4% of 1.25m = 50k, plus annual NOMAD fees of 17.5k plus annual Broker fees of 5k = 102.5k on the P&L this year.

Looking forward to 13 more new admissions this year = about 1.5 per month April to December to hit my targets.

Folks, in my view this is all the proof we need that the new management really are doing a stirling job.

The great thing about investing with CFP is that you can monitor their performance in almost "real time". As such, people like ourselves who follow the progress of work going through CFP can anticipate bullish forward statements with confidence in results yet to be published! This means that we have an "insider" view and are able to buy at the best possible prices - like now.

Intandem looked as though they had slipped through the net last year, however they're back and using CFP for both NOMAD and broker - great news!

There could also be other companies who CFP worked with towards the end of 2004 who decided not to float for whatever reason, who will be returning to the complete the transaction - more handy business.

And....as SD says, we've got plenty more new business to look forward to also.

snip25 - 07 Apr 2005 16:05 - 282 of 2787

Not many left at this price now, a few more IPO's before results and whats gonna happen:o)

ranoszek - 07 Apr 2005 16:28 - 283 of 2787

Any shares as part of work. If not, then may be it indicates a more positive business model for CFP. I would be happier with cash especially in these markets.

arawli - 07 Apr 2005 19:04 - 284 of 2787

I will be topping up again tomorrow as long as the price stays where it is now as I have sold most of my SEG shares after a 400% rise. Then again I am expecting a bit more out of this one!!

Good Luck

Andy

Well done, arawli, on SEG. Let's hope you bring the same luck and charm to CFP. 2.05p here we come.

Andy - did you deduce that info. from the placing doc. in the library or from elsewhere ?

Those placing docs. look very handy for estimating actual income for each transaction, though I haven't had chance to read them in detail yet.

arawli - 07 Apr 2005 19:46 - 289 of 2787
