New bulletinboard now live.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 02 Jul 2005 01:46

Hello,

As you can see, we have put the new bulletin boards live.

The migration went smoothly, though it look at little longer than I expected it to!

If you notice any problems on the boards, please post below.

Bones - 22 Jul 2005 13:12 - 285 of 388

So what's happened to the GREEN for my threads?

overgrowth - 22 Jul 2005 13:18 - 286 of 388

I agree Bones - that used to be a very handy navigation tool !

Bones/overgrowth,

I will pass this onto JT to take a look into it.

A few points about the new layout. If there is only one post on a thread, ie the post that starts the thread, there is no 'Thead List' button at the bottom of the thread, only the one at the top.

I was one of those who asked for the 'Thread List' buttons etc to be enlarged to make them easier to hit with the mouse pointer. You have enlarged them, but the active area where the pointer changes is still well within the blue background, so the actual target area doesn't seem to have been enlarged. Compare this with the 'Post message' buttons, where the mouse pointer changes as soon as you touch the blue background.

And a small detail: the word 'message' in 'Post message' should be capitalised to match all other buttons.

Our policy is one of continual product improvement:-)

Are you still trying to make available a link from the quote pages to the B/Boards, the set up as it is now, is that you have to do an epic search to get to the boards. I have noticed a decline in posting because investors can't be bothered with it all, or may be they are going else where.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 23 Jul 2005 11:08 - 292 of 388

driver,

What do you mean 'investors can't be bothered with it all'? Be bothered with what?

A quick count (in the database) of the number of postings made this month show that posting isn't down on last month, or the month before, so I'm unsure where you're getting your information from.

wrt the quote pages, we are going to be readding the list of bulletinboard postings in due course.

Scrolling long threads is very slow, perhaps because of the large number of images in the post headers. E.g. do All Posts on this thread and click the scroll bar on the right hand side to scroll up or down. Not sure if there is anything that can be done.

optomistic - 23 Jul 2005 13:47 - 294 of 388

Looking at Charts, why are the indicators 'condensed' at the top end of the chart?

Fred1new - 23 Jul 2005 13:52 - 295 of 388

Ian, I don't think the squelch button is working on both "Theads".

Help.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 23 Jul 2005 14:24 - 296 of 388

Kayak,

I'm not sure what you mean? The scrolling seems perfectly fine here. Can you clarify?

J.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 23 Jul 2005 14:32 - 297 of 388

Fred1new,

Squelching is now active again, sorry about that.

I can't give you much more I'm afraid. Repainting the screen as you scroll this thread (All Posts) by clicking on the right hand scroll bar is visibly slow, I guess not unworkable, but slow. 1.5Ghz processor, would be worse on earlier models I think.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 23 Jul 2005 14:42 - 299 of 388

Kayak,

I've just switched to IE and the problem is more prounounced that with FF.

I don't really know what could be done about that?

J.

Kayak - 23 Jul 2005 14:47 - 300 of 388

Don't know, I guess it must be something in the HTML. I've tried to disable images and it still does it so it's not the actual image loading. You could try specifying the height and width of each image explicitly so that it can display the page correctly before loading the images. The other suspect is the Vertical align:middle.

Kayak - 23 Jul 2005 15:04 - 301 of 388

Another idea, some images are 18x18 and others 25x25. Perhaps making them all 18x18 would help.
