I'm not familar with 1and1 but you should type in the account name for email collection and its password, making sure upper and lower case are correct in each case. Often they are the same as the first part of the email address. Check with 1and1 to be sure.
ive installed Norton Internet security 2005 on my kids PCS.On mine it runs fine. intel 4/ 2.3. 512 ram.
On their machines the parental control can take up to 3 minutes to load,on mine about 8 seconds, they have athlon xp and 256 ram.
Any idea what the prob can be?
HELP!
Decided to re-install my son`s XP home due to Tons of spyware.Bulldog/Webrebates etc.I dont know how they got there as Norton was up and running and password protected.Hoping they are not on the recovery discs. It a PC World computer. A Fujitsu Siemens one.If that helps?? :-)
After re-installing some still there! Then tried installing my XP PRO Copy. This worked. All Spy ware had gone. Went to activate product, which went ok.Then I got one of those shutdown in 1 minute boxes. Cant remember the name. If I remember rightly it will keep doing this.
How do I format drive properly and re-install the provided XP Home edition and make sure there are no nastys lurking.
Boot the machine from the instalation CD it will eventually ask you whether you want to do a new install or repair. Select new and you will be asked where you want to install it. I can't remember the exact messages but you need to delete the existing partition and then create a new one. All of your existing data will be lost.
Fujitsu siemans Product recovery
Windows Home Edition SP1A.
Nearly finished loading on his machine.Downloaded the SPWARE removal tool from Symantec as well.So ill run that first
Update:
Loaded ok: No sign of any AD Stuff.Just installing Norton 2005 Before attempting Internet connection.Still cant fathom out how it got infected. On my machine Ive never had anything get through with Norton.
Norton shows "Total physical memory 192mb.Total windows memory 859mb"
The Kids computers do seem to run slow.
Just to remind you they have Athlon Xp 3000+2.1ghz
Motherboard:Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. A7N8X-VM400 Rev 2.xx
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 3.00 07/30/2004
Can i add more memory?
Should i do a computer course:-)))))
It looks to me as though you have 256MB installed but only 192MB is working. Having said that, it is very rare for that to happen.
What does the boot up memory check show?
If you have only 192MB working then it could be the memory or the motherboard at fault. Try reseating the memory in the slot and then swapp it into the other slot (make sure you are earthed before touching it).
In any case, 256 MB is getting low these days. You would see an improvement with 512MB. You could also lose performance due to your 256/192 issue.
If either the slot or the memory is faulty, then don't use it. Buy a single 512MB.
Should you do a computer course? - Why bother with the knowledge availible on this board;-)
Optomist:Ive said it before.Your a star!
Many, many thanks. To all the others who have helped.
Thats it for now.Ill let you know how i go on with reseating etc.

Would any of the Superstars like to comment on this:
AVG has done a full system scan and come up with the following "viruses"
C:\Documents and settings\Rob\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deploymentcache\javapi\v1.0\jar\loaderadv268.jar-688ccab8-34b72e6a.zip
thenb the same files with ":Counter.class" and ":\Parser.class" at the end. I suspect they aren't viruses but relate to an update of java that failed. How should I deal with them?
