niceonecyril - sorry, I didn't realise you came up with 12.50. Independently, I came up with 12.75 - so that gives me even more confidence about selling. I'll probably jump back in around 12.75 t0 13.00. My only hesitation will be if global oil prices start dropping as this will knock oil&gas shares initially on sentiment, until interims and finals are published next March.

niceonecyril - 07 Nov 2007 23:18 - 306 of 896

mindseye it should be remember that the price of oil price on IEC has less effect
than one would imagine, due to the tax whereas over $27 a barrel(not sure of the exact figure) IEC pay 90% tax + other charges and its been worked out something approaching 96%.
Its why i sold up,although they make somewhere between $15 and $17 a barrel
profit. I believe it holds back the value of the reserves so holding back the M/Cap.

sp being whacked yet again today, but then so is virtually every stock .... God bless my running shorts in NRK and to a lesser extent SOLA!

cynic - 20 Nov 2007 15:27 - 308 of 896

sp currently nestling on 25 dma support ...... arguably a reasonable level at which to buy ..... so i bought back 1/2 my top-slice

Some result for a company of 3 years.

The above post refers IEC joining the FTSE 250 club.

niceonecyril - 22 Nov 2007 07:44 - 311 of 896

Proposals with Gazprom ended, although an agreement of mutual co-operation.
Now was that the reason for yesterdays fall,or the cost of joining the FTSE 250 ?

cynic - 22 Nov 2007 07:55 - 312 of 896

not with Gazprom, but with Gazprombank .... it was the bank, not the gas/oil company that was talking of taking a 25% stake at a discount ..... they prob wanted it too cheap!

niceonecyril - 22 Nov 2007 08:14 - 313 of 896

Thats true, taking a bit of a hit at the minute 1131/1143p

cynic - 22 Nov 2007 08:27 - 314 of 896

it was lower ..... think i shall stay put with my holding, though have been pruning in general quite severely ...... FTSE has not held its opening rise, but early days (try hours!)

blanche - 22 Nov 2007 08:44 - 315 of 896

Trading at 13.50 at the beginning of november before Gazprom were on the scene. NO reason why they wont go back up. Plus hopefully may get some institutions buying now were in the 250. Great time to buy some more!!!! 8-)

cynic - 22 Nov 2007 08:49 - 316 of 896

buying nothing! ...... it is worrying to see FTSE now down a fair bit after an opening attempted rally

blanche - 22 Nov 2007 08:54 - 317 of 896

Cynic, Thats my only concern as well, Could be the new year before we get a proper rally. SCARY!!! Recently sold out some of my biggest profit making shares saved a couple of thousand in potential lost profits in just one week.

cynic - 22 Nov 2007 09:02 - 318 of 896

i have pruned very heavily over the last week or ..... inevitably had some stinkers in the portfolio, but better to cut them out and move on

BigTed - 22 Nov 2007 09:03 - 319 of 896

True bearish signals, it will take several days of consolidation, before the market dares to venture truly north, imo. Otherwise it seems to just drift, again some bullish statements around this morning, but doing nothing to send the FTSE higher, 6 months ago was a very different story...

blanche - 22 Nov 2007 09:12 - 320 of 896

Weve got to go through another rate cut in the States yet!

cynic - 22 Nov 2007 09:33 - 321 of 896

i rather hope there is not another rate cut in US as $ already horribly weak ...... further, it will exacerbate inflationary pressures and also imply a certain state of panic ..... UK however seems destined for a rate cut within the next 2/3 weeks

lex1000 - 22 Nov 2007 09:47 - 322 of 896

Cynic,do not like the look of IEC chart, same could be said of many stocks at the moment.

sp dropped below 25 & 50 & 200 sma withpout pausing for breath thus far.Support @ 850p?

cynic - 22 Nov 2007 09:50 - 323 of 896

you are quite right and arguably i should have sold the balance this morning ...... however, as you are clearly still throwing a bit of a tantrum re the posts on PET, i shall merely add that at least IEC are producing

lex1000 - 22 Nov 2007 10:02 - 324 of 896

Cynic, my fair comments suitable responces all things considered.Back to IEC markets horrible if stays below 200 sma & continues falling would consider buying @ 850p.bwtfdik.
