Better than mine :-) The theoretical maximum for the 2023 figure is around 2048.

The business with the Max-connections is to allow IE to load multiple pictures at once. The default is 4 I think, meaning that if IE loads a web page with 20 pictures then it will load 4 at a time. With 16 things run faster since it can load 16 at once. You should see it on the task bar in the bottom right hand corner where the URLs will change quickly.

For those using google and have Gmail acounts
"While the media has largely focused on the fact that Gmail will scan the contents of your email messages in order to target ads, the more serious problem from a privacy perspective is Google's ability to link your Gmail account information with your Google web searches. By linking your complete Google search history - tagged with your name and personal details - to your email records, Google can create a highly nuanced picture of you as a reader and as a person. Such pictures present irresistible targets for government investigators, civil lawsuit plaintiffs, and even identity thieves. A single attack or disclosure could release deeply sensitive details about your life to the world without your knowledge or consent.

Last year, there was also articles about one or more of the big email providers retaining, for some time, all deleted emails.

The Price of Surveillance, Measured in Pounds
The London Internet Exchange (LINX), a consortium of ISPs, argues that the cost of a proposed EU plan to mandate data retention would amount to a tax to support government snooping.

Chocky, have you made any changes? new drivers, new programs? There seem to be a lot of causes for this dll to abort. What OS what version of explorer?

Where would you like me to start, Spacie? ;)
Ok - explorer vers. 6.0.2800.1106. I updated a while back, and it does mention SP1; Q834707; Q837009; Q889293.
As for programmes - I did uninstall some a few weeks ago in an effort to clear the rubbish plus a couple of new ones.

Windows ME - Urgh!
This seems to fit

failing that a good registry cleaner might help. Better still move on to Win2000 or XP

I've got 4 machines on a network, 2 on W2k, 1 on XP Pro and 1 on ME. The XP and W2k machines automatically log-in, but the ME machine needs to be manually logged-in even although there is no set user password.
Can the ME machine be changed to automatically log-in and, if so, how?
