Absolutely Stan and Swarez surely cant add that much to that team.

Still think we need to win though. Pressure will be on us if we dont. Sterling in team and not lelanu.

Calmed down a bit now, that pint of stella done the trick.

My mates all arriving now.

goldfinger - 14 Jun 2014 22:20 - 3152 of 6918

Not long now lads.

Will it be the fungle in the jungle or Roys boys walk on water.

'Will the lion sleep tonight'.

goldfinger - 14 Jun 2014 22:23 - 3153 of 6918

Match on at 2am nearly missed that japan v Ivory coast.

Both 7/4

Think Ill go for a win to ivory coast.

Chris Carson - 14 Jun 2014 22:37 - 3154 of 6918

Gf - Calm Down, Calm Down, your making me nervous now. Sterling in, that's a positive move imo. Seen the state of Henrys cardy, got the same one as a Chrimbo pressy in 1970 :O) Hope Barkley gets a run out at some stage tonight. Come on England!

goldfinger - 14 Jun 2014 22:51 - 3155 of 6918

Shiting myself Chris but thats a good thing for me.

Bufoon out of the Italian side.

Just having my pre match brandy.

Come on Engerland.

Its now or never.

goldfinger - 14 Jun 2014 22:53 - 3156 of 6918

Hold me hand Chris..........

But seriously this is pressure, bloody red hot pressure.

goldfinger - 14 Jun 2014 23:27 - 3157 of 6918

This thing of man marking Pirlo? play 10 on 10 and play a marker so tight he hasnt room to fart.

Chris Carson - 14 Jun 2014 23:38 - 3158 of 6918

That's why Rooney has to play GF! Barkley can replace him later when he's knackered.

goldfinger - 14 Jun 2014 23:53 - 3159 of 6918

Chris yep but hes not the one marking Pirlo. Somone as to follow him all the next 45 minutes and make it a 10 v 10 game.

This bunkum from the England camp .......ohhh we are going to sit someone on him......
WHAT...... carp, Hodgson is asking the nearest player to get stuck in and Ill tell you this He'l have us if we dont get on top of him.

Rooney is frustrated being on the left.

I say move him in with 20 minutes to go .

Stiil positive as long as we get hold of Pirlo.

Chris Carson - 14 Jun 2014 23:59 - 3160 of 6918

The goal came from a set play, Welbecks having a good game.

goldfinger - 15 Jun 2014 00:03 - 3161 of 6918

Yep fingers crossed chris.

Lets get Barklay on and p-ss on them.

goldfinger - 15 Jun 2014 01:01 - 3162 of 6918

Shit

MaxK - 15 Jun 2014 01:02 - 3163 of 6918

Talk of your lot in for Don Cowie who is out of contract with us Stan. Rarely started for us last season which says it all really.

Will run all day but that's about it."

Dil, The fact that he will "run all day" will certainly fit in with the ethos around the club under Dyche these days, so who knows .

What position does he play?

Defensive midfield but does get himself in the box at times and knows where the net is. Just won't fit in with us next season.

Dil - 15 Jun 2014 01:08 - 3165 of 6918

Cant say I watched it from start to finish but now I'm in gf camp.

Best team lost imo , get shot of Rooney and more debatable start Wiltshire instead of Gerrard.

Still think you'll get through , good luck guys.

Chris Carson - 15 Jun 2014 01:19 - 3166 of 6918

England will get better, played well tonight. Final ball that was the problem tonight.

required field - 15 Jun 2014 08:36 - 3167 of 6918

England played well.....Miaouuu...my invisible pet cat didn't have get it last night (no animals or....women were hurt in writing this blog)(terms and conditions may vary)...the trouble is : Italy have an incredible knack of getting the better of us.....yes England can still qualify...in second place and might miss the Dutch further down the line....euuhh...I might be getting ahead of ourselves here, but it might not be a bad thing because I can't see the Italians beating them either...perhaps the other route is best....whatever the case ; if by miracle of miracles we got to the quarterfinals after the second round : a big boy will be waiting : perhaps the winner of Brazil-Spain...we just have to beat Uruguay now...I think we can do that on last nights good performance !...we must not allow teams to cross from flanks too easily...that problem needs to be sorted out and of course : better finishing...

ExecLine - 15 Jun 2014 10:30 - 3168 of 6918

Good game. Just 'quality' lacking from England's performance. As in, 'When you shoot use your brain instead of your instincts and try to hit the effing target!'

Big question from last night's match:

Q. Is Rooney past his best?
A. The answer now just has to be a 'Maybe' rather than a 'No'. That delightful pass from the LHS to Sturridge being the exception.

Stan - 15 Jun 2014 12:14 - 3169 of 6918

England started very well and looked good early especially going forward and up front, but Italy are pass masters at the game at the top level, also England can be optimistic after scoring that brilliant equaliser which must raise their confidence for the other two games.

Before judging Rooney or anyone else I want to see the player playing in the position to which they comfortable, and with Rooney that is central is it not?

ExecLine - 15 Jun 2014 12:48 - 3170 of 6918

Agreed that Rooney didn't seem comfortable with his designated position - but he does generally seem to be allowed to wander about a fair bit.

Perhaps his 'wandering about skills' are on the Wayne?
