i have pruned very heavily over the last week or ..... inevitably had some stinkers in the portfolio, but better to cut them out and move on

True bearish signals, it will take several days of consolidation, before the market dares to venture truly north, imo. Otherwise it seems to just drift, again some bullish statements around this morning, but doing nothing to send the FTSE higher, 6 months ago was a very different story...

Weve got to go through another rate cut in the States yet!

i rather hope there is not another rate cut in US as $ already horribly weak ...... further, it will exacerbate inflationary pressures and also imply a certain state of panic ..... UK however seems destined for a rate cut within the next 2/3 weeks

Cynic,do not like the look of IEC chart,same could be said of many stocks at the moment.

very good recovery since yesterday big hit, but sp may have stalled pro tem as it challenges 200 dma at 1150

IEC on the move again .... +30 today, but this is a very volatile stock, so not very much should be read into that, though better up than down!

Could be that investors believe that a deal with Gaz will be done sometime, bringing new confidence?
IEC has always been a leaky share and for me i've a feeling that news is just around the corner, its been a long tome by IEC's standard without a positive update.

Brian you could be right,it seems that IEC are not issuing news quite so often,
probably to do with nonsence (Mitvol)? Theirs several pieces of news due,
Buranovskoye well is long overdue,the first of the Rigs should have been delivered and checked ready for transportation(via helicopter)to Block 80,along with news of the pipeline which is planned for this winter. The pipeline would require permafrost
conditions to allow transportation and the temps at Tomsk are at best -7C so
things should be happening on the ground? And as you pointed out the Savkazgra field in Kazakhstan was to be spudded late Sept and a time of 2 months to drill,so
news anyday now?

Not a lot of reaction to this am's news,seems that once again this is priced into
the SP prior to RNS updates?
PL who complained recently about the way the SP was being manipulated,
should see that IEC gets its own house in order.
The Kazakhstan well which was supposed to have been spudded in late Sept,
is to be spudded later this week? So a slight disappointment their,no idea why but
i'm sure their was a good reason.[

quite possibly shortage of rigs, but do remember that Kaza is bandit country, so sp will always carry that factor

Just picked up this piece of info,needs checking out.
Shares on loan since the beginning of Oct have risen from just over 3% to
over 9%?
Perhaps the reason for the fall in the SP today when with the excellent RNS,
a rise would have been expected?
