Very strong two hours later, Moneyman - over 15 mil traded, two small purchases just went through at 2p, which means we're getting back to prices last seen in October, and depending on your precise standpoint, you can say the SP's up 25%.

Go, Greased Lightning !!! :o)

Does anyone have any idea as to why the mms have KILLED the trading by going back to a massive spread?

soul traders - 09 Jun 2006 13:52 - 331 of 1049

No, but when inputting dummy trades a couple of hours ago I found the real spread was much tighter than the indicative spread.

ALthough at the moment, my broker is quoting indicative spread:
BLR Bid: 1.9p Offer: 1.95p Change: 0.325 I haven't checked the "real" spread.

Make of this what you will . . .

soul traders - 09 Jun 2006 14:00 - 332 of 1049

Here are the most recent trades recorded by my online broker as examples:

Trade time Price (p) Volume Assumed purchase/sale* Bid (p) Ask (p)
13:39 1.9 165000 sale 1.9 1.95
13:39 1.91 55000 sale 1.9 1.95
13:38 1.85 50000 purchase 1.6 1.95
13:34 1.64 8560 sale 1.6 2

I think we can safely ignore the sale of 8,560 at 1.6p as I have a feeling that this was dealt early this morning and just reported late, although I stand to be corrected by anybody who knows better!

As you can see, the "real" bid price is actually much higher than that indicated in the bid-offer spread quoted (for example) on the list of trades as reported by this website.

Thx very much soul, soon as the spread widens the trading comes to a screeching halt.

hampi_man - 09 Jun 2006 14:24 - 334 of 1049

does any one have any ideas where this might go???

soul traders - 09 Jun 2006 14:54 - 335 of 1049

Hampi Man, happy to provide opinions, for what they are worth, but have you read the info and links posted on this thread (plus all the usual sources of info about the company) since about early March, as there has been a lot of comment already made that might help you evaluate this stock's potential.

Shares Mag last week had them as Play of the week and a BUY. Just a small snippet as it was a full page write up. Tec Director John Cubitt plans to target the monterey gas field in block 49/8c a proven gas field with 165 bcf of gas. While commercial flow rates have yet to be proved. Being stuck between the Markham and Audrey discoveries bodes well. Black Rocks 15% stake in Monterey alone equates to 4 million barrels of oil. Assuming just 10% of black rocks recoverable reserves estimate come through, and assuming modest $43 a barrel oil prices, this implies revenue potential of around 200 million rendering the firms current 7 million market value ludicrously low. Fingers crossed Black rock oil could grab the markets attention sooner rather than later since the company plans to get its reserves independently assessed, probably before the end of the summer.

All sounds like good potential to me

just topped up again... looking good! bring it on !

Rutherford - 12 Jun 2006 15:28 - 338 of 1049

Skyhigh, you should be in profit on that trade by the end of today.
Ready for 2p or over now! Should see 3p by next week IMHO.

skyhigh - 12 Jun 2006 15:52 - 339 of 1049

Rutherford,
Thanks for this... I Hope you're right! I added to a previous buy last yr of 2.2p

Rutherford - 12 Jun 2006 16:35 - 340 of 1049

Wrong again with this share! It never fails to amaze me how the mm,s work this share price.
At least in the next month or two there is only one way for it to go. UP !!!
Skyhigh I am sure you will at least double your money in the next few weeks and then some when Monterey gets going in the not too distant future.

cynic - 12 Jun 2006 16:39 - 341 of 1049

End of trading prices, like those at pre-opening, are often strange and distorted. Under the circustances, I think BLR has behaved remarkably robustly.

soul traders - 12 Jun 2006 16:45 - 342 of 1049

It was oversold before the recent run, IMO. Your caution is welcome, Cynic, as I think that the market is possibly a little too fickle to award this one multi-bagger status just yet. Beyond a certain price, people are going to start demanding results, which I am convinced are going to come; however, in the current market few investors are going to be prepared to pay for those results before they happen.

moneyman - 12 Jun 2006 22:36 - 343 of 1049

ST it was oversold due to the placees selling and making a quick killing. Big move today with Hoodless coming off the offer. WINs then decided to try and shake things up.

skyhigh - 12 Jun 2006 23:05 - 344 of 1049

Another bad day in the markets is on the cards tomorrow due to Mervyn Kings comments tonite,,, be interesting to see how BLR holds up.

skyhigh - 13 Jun 2006 08:08 - 345 of 1049

Yep ! it's ugly market down 82 points already !

soul traders - 13 Jun 2006 11:54 - 346 of 1049

Moneyman, not sure I agree entirely - I know where you're coming from but also think that this has been oversold for months. Just IMO.

Anyhoo, once the market sorts itself out (please Ben, be gentle!) and BLR announce positive drilling/production results, I am sure we'll forget the current woes.

cynic - 13 Jun 2006 12:05 - 347 of 1049

I don't hold these, but as I mentioned yesterday, they really have held up remarkably well under the circumstances. Typically, assuming the show is correct, MMs have widened the spread to deter dealing and to make more out of forced sellers.

Rutherford - 14 Jun 2006 09:35 - 348 of 1049

Topped up again at 1.9p due to exciting times over the next few months.
