Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Nice one ranoszek, but not 100% convinced that "negotiating additional working capital facilities" refers to more equity, suspect could be banking facs. So do not expect Broker commission, but I guess the NOMAD side of the equation may be called into play.

Views, anyone - OG, Eric, ranoszek??

Just emailed the company about results and got this reply :-

Andrew

I am aiming to issue the results in the next couple of weeks. They will include a trading update. We do not publish a list of forthcoming floats as these can sometimes create a hostage to fortune particularly if a fundraising is also taking place.

Tony Rawlinson

overgrowth - 14 Apr 2005 10:46 - 342 of 2787

arawli - thanks for posting the info. Confirms what we thought.

All we need now is for the trading update to confirm our projections for 2005 and the price should be whizzing back up to the 0.6-0.8p range.

Is this more work ? :-

Andy - great email from Tony Rawlinson - simple direct polite and timely. Totally understand his comment about prior notice on floats/fund-raising. Looking forward to the results and trading prospects very keenly as I'm well in on these shares (thank you Eric!) and the spread makes my eyes water. Would love a lift to get clear into profit so I can set a decent stop loss at a profit - then I could rest easy waiting for further buying ops.

I'm looking for a break up to a new range of nearly as high as OG's 6-8 - probably a touch lower soon after the accounts come out. From there onwards and upwards to 1p+ by Xmas.

I1m not normally open to rampnig but get in quick as 100k @ 0.4p was mine and price won`t get much better than that !!

snakey - 15 Apr 2005 16:31 - 349 of 2787

apart from the `high` 0.44p, I would suggest that all trades shown today are buys. roll on results etc

EWRobson - 16 Apr 2005 23:05 - 350 of 2787

Well done, Andrew, for teasing out the statement from Rawlinson. Like the emphasis on the trading statement - he is obviously as pleased as punch with what he has achieved in his first 4 months in charge. Think sd is a bit cautious at possible outcome but he likes to hedge his bets just as he buries his bones under the hedge. Anyone not up to 1 million shares? last chance saloon this week!

ERic

ope ou are well. I just have a sneeky feeling he is going to say how well they have done so far this year but then caution that the rest of the year will not be as good. I don't think he wants the price to spike as it did last year and is trying to cause a gradual rise. This will be better for us long term hoilders anyway IMO.

Here's hoping we should get back to the 0.70p-0.85p range though

ptholden - 17 Apr 2005 14:08 - 352 of 2787

Interesting to note from CFA's website that so far this year (Jan-Apr) they have brought 7 companies to the AIM, as opposed to a total of 7 for the whole of last year. (Talking Calander years here as opposed to Financial years).
Have always been a confident supporter of CFA and hopefully sort of gradual progress bodes well for the future. Perhaps the opportunites for those of us who bought at .70p to average down are becoming somewhat limited!

EWRobson - 17 Apr 2005 22:53 - 354 of 2787

Andy: I think pth has answered your doubts. If they talk about 7 companies to the market then the financial implications will be in the trading statement. I agree re the low key and there will be a statement that incompleted business is not firm until floatation. Also, the attraction of floating on the AIM market, or market conditions generally, might not sustain the rate from the first quarter. However, even the statement that they have been cashflow positive in the first quarter will do wonders for the sp. Anyway, my million minimum goad still applies!

Well guys, results should be this week or next - my guess is early next week, though they'll probably pop up first thing tomorrow and surprise us all !

I hope Tony R is going to give us an indication of what they have in the current pipeline for 2005 in addition to the review of progress so far.
