World cup 2010, What chances for the Home sides and Ireland !. (2010)

required field - 12 Oct 2008 18:43

Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

required field - 29 May 2009 08:26 - 344 of 1154

Chelsea 3-1......can't see the Toffes winning but you never know...they might hold on for penalties !.

Joe Say - 29 May 2009 14:50 - 345 of 1154

Personally I think it could quite well go to pens - everton were good against us a few weeks back, and tomorrow they'll be so hyped up that I can see us being under a lot of pressure

flasher - 29 May 2009 17:36 - 346 of 1154

Chelsea 2-0, But of more interest what about Pompey "loads of money" looks like Sven's on his way. Judas Redknapp should have stayed around a bit longer.

Joe Say - 30 May 2009 09:13 - 347 of 1154

More interest !!!!! Get real - maybe in Hampshire but the rest of the country is not so interested in your dealings.

The mistake you and many others (including our beloved media) make is that you genuinely think that money buys you success - you should talk to fans of Man City, Fulham, and Newcastle to get a second opinion.

flasher - 30 May 2009 19:00 - 348 of 1154

Correct, but half of Hampshire are interested couldn't give a toss about Newcastle crap club and deluded fans. Fulham doing ok. Man City give it a year and they will come good.

Joe Say - 31 May 2009 08:52 - 349 of 1154

Looks like its a 12 month wait then until the truth dawns on you.

Man City ain't gonna win a single trophy - guaranteed
Man City ain't gonna make the top 4 - guaranteed

Guess you'll now have to redefine what "come good" means

flasher - 31 May 2009 18:40 - 350 of 1154

Wait and see.

required field - 03 Jun 2009 23:38 - 351 of 1154

Well it's back to the national sides soon....Man City are soon going to look like the "Harlem Globe Trotters" (Basket Ball show team) with their big signings......talented but beatable at times !.

Joe Say - 04 Jun 2009 07:15 - 352 of 1154

beatable at times - like every away game (08/09 lost 67% of away games ) , and one third of their home games !!!!

Maybe a slight improvement is coming in 09/10, but forget the Top 4, FA or Carling Cups - best they'll manage perhaps is a win over one of the top 4.

required field - 04 Jun 2009 08:11 - 353 of 1154

And they are not in the "Europa Cup" (I think that's the new name for the Uefa cup though I might be mistaken)....so that will probably be one of their main goals next year that is to get back into Europe and not qualifying this year must have been a blow !.

required field - 07 Jun 2009 17:49 - 354 of 1154

Well the Croatians were a little unlucky..twice they hit the right side goalpost....it'll be them or the Ukraine right to the end...whilst England will just stroll to qualification....Another thing is that Portugal and Sweden are struggling in their group....what ? no world cup without the Swedes.....? that's a surprise !, Denmark are almost there and Hungary are still in with a big chance !.....let's hope that Joe Cole, Michael Owen and sorts can all be fit and peak at next year's world cup...the thing is to create a good group like the Italians.....and keep the Wags at bay for 6 weeks or so next summer....come on the Lads you can do it !!!.

required field - 13 Jun 2009 09:02 - 355 of 1154

ManU are doing the right thing in selling Ronaldo for 80 million Pounds....a staggering amount of money....Real must be nuts !.....even with Kaka as well : I cannot see them winning the Champions league....putting together nothing but stars in a team might be good for the entertainment side of things but might not bring the success at the highest level.....The Red Devils have done well !.

XSTEFFX - 13 Jun 2009 13:58 - 356 of 1154

MY TOP 4 FOR NEXT SEASON ARE

WAS

LIVERPOOL
MAN UTD
ARSENAL
CHELSEA

NOW

LIVERPOOL
ARSENAL
CHELSEA
MAN UTD

RONALDO WILL COST THEM.

Joe Say - 14 Jun 2009 07:48 - 357 of 1154

Not half as much as the therapy you clearly need !!!

At best you've got your top in ascending order ie pool 4th

required field - 15 Jun 2009 08:32 - 358 of 1154

Who knows ?...could be Aston Villa's year ?.

required field - 22 Jun 2009 16:56 - 359 of 1154

Well the under 21's are in the semis...well done them !......can't see the Italians retaining their world title next year....in fact there aren't many sides that I like....oh ! don't tell me the Germans will make the final again... please not again ...let somebody else have a go !.....I fancy our chances and Spain of course...not so sure about the Brazilians...loads of talent but this time might not make it past the semis....history says that a South American team should win but this time I'm not so sure....if we miss the Spanish in the draws : we could go a long way as long as the defense is in tip top shape !, and the injured players recover well !.

required field - 25 Jun 2009 11:00 - 360 of 1154

Huge surprise with the USA beating the Spanish in the confederation cup semi finals !, how on earth did that happen ?, did not see the game , thought it was going to be a walkover for Spain....this sort of thing happened to England in the world cup back in I think it was 1950 or 1954 with the United States...they are a surprise team !....can't see the Brazilians not winning this now !....this result will set a lot of doubts for the next world cup.....must not forget that the Dutch have a good side as well....still think England have a great chance as long as they go to South Africa modestly.....with no big noises except when they go out on that pitch and eat the opposition.....as far as I'm concerned you can forget about the handshake at the start and just glare into the other teams eyes....and show tremendous determination and talent and cunning little moves....roll on 2010 !.

required field - 29 Jun 2009 09:12 - 361 of 1154

Let's hope the under 21's perform well tonight....why do England always make life difficult for themselves : leading 3 - 0 at half time they then let 3 goals in !?...anyway they are in the final on penalties unbelievable, so that's a good result . The Brazilians have won the Confederation Cup for the 3rd time....the score should have been 4 - 2....at 1 - 2 to the Usa they scored a valid goal....so if Sedanta had still been broadcasting : Desmond would have said that it should be Tutu...get it ? ...two two.....I know that's the worse South African football joke to date !.

required field - 29 Jun 2009 23:46 - 362 of 1154

Not such a good end to the European Championship for the under 21's here !....4-0 loss and another 3 goals let in against Sweden...I would not be too happy if I was Stuart Pearce ...7 goals conceded and not 1 scored since going 3-0 up..not so good that...but getting to the final is not so bad.....will have to go 1 step further in 2 years time.....will have to watch the Germans (seniors) in next year's world cup....incredibly they never impress but somehow get through each round in turn...will be a job to knock them out again next year....the Brazilians are great in attack but that defense looks dodgy and any team that has a proper go at them for 90 minutes stands a chance, not just 45mn like the Americans did , that's no good : you have to go at their defense in both halves...all shall be revealed at next year's finals !.

required field - 03 Jul 2009 11:55 - 363 of 1154

Michael Owen set to join ManU...it's like selling a stock at a high price (Ronaldo) and getting in at a lower one (M.Owen).....with Rooney and Owen both fully fit...(good for the national side that !)...I bet they bump into Real Madrid...possibly as early as the group stages...you never know !?.....I think this year the final order next may in the premiership will be : Liverpool, yep ! the super reds champions at long last...got to come sooner or later.. Chelsea, ManU and Aston villa with Arsenal scraping into the Uefa Europa Cup......I fear that the Gunners are looking like a short at the moment....where are all these wonders that Arsene has tucked away ?... time to unleash them on the world !.
